2017 Limited, had this issue for awhile now and it's really starting to steam me !
First off ' It will not do it consistently , very intermittently .
I can be riding and pull up to a traffic light or as I'm pulling up to the garage door or getting off the freeway clutch in and coasting the bike idles down ,it will just go beyond idle to off ! I know this is a bad way to explain it.
The only thing I can pinpoint is the bike seem to not find the point of idle ? It can do it in freeway traffic that is backed up , or at a traffic light .
It dose not sputter or pop then stall, it will not do it leaving a light , only as the bike is idling down or trying to ?????
I'm fairly convinced it's not a fuel issue, but can not completely rule it out ,.
This bike has been to the dealer twice with no result , I've been told there are no codes and the fuel pressure is within spec ???
Ultimately I'm paying for the answer that " if it wont do it when we have it we can't fix it .
So to all the former service techs out there, any answers where to start ????
I have gone as far as removing the gas tank and dumping out all the fuel just to be sure there was not a water blob hanging by the pickup.
Other than that I'd rather not throw $$$$ at it cause, is it an electrical problem ???? What new electronic widget is causing my woes ???
Stock motor, only mod is mufflers and tires. STOCK, STOCK ! I am the original owner since new and just over 28,000 miles.
Only other option to me is try another dealer .
'
I'll put a small wager on the switch pack being bad. Had one go bad on my '17. Dealer installed 3 on my '17 (in one visit) before they got a good one. They finally took one off of a new '18. Wouldn't idle at times. Bike would just die out. Sporadic! Wouldn't start in gear if I remember correctly.
Didn't they have a service bulletin to replace the clutch lever? Can't remember what year that was. I know they replaced the lever on one of mine.
As mentioned this has been detailed a few times here in the past.
Not sure how the left bar switch pack has an effect on idle, care to explain ?
Common issue with the 2017 switch packs. It's usually the clutch lever switch going bad. There is some correlation with it and the ECM that creates this issue.
If you do a search, you'll people find a few people who've had the issue, how to test for it (try to start the bike in gear with the clutch pulled), and those that simply cleaned, lubed it, etc and got it to work for awhile.
There are updated switch packs available from HD but considering the cost of just the left side, many choose to upgrade to the lighted switch set for a few dollars more - I did.
If the 107 has the plastic plenum (intake manifold) like the 114, I'd check for heat distortion and leaks on the intake air charge, this will affect idle quality.
It's the left switch pack, mine did the same. I put graffite on the plunger button behind the clutch lever and snapped it a few times works great 2 years later. If memory serves me your cruise probably isn't working either. That's how you know is the plunger in the left switch pack.
I also agree on the left switch pack that contains the neutral safety switch. Wifes Softail Deluxe had same exact problems as you are stating and found the the neutral Safety switch was the problem. Replaced the left switch and never had the problem again.
I also had the same issue. I got used to putting it in neutral before coming to a stop. That kept the bike from dying rolling to a stop. Had to wait for almost a month for the dealer to get a left side switch pack. That fixed my problem.
