Aside from some possible phone/blue tooth compatibility issues I'm very intrigued with this tuner. I've been a T-Max with auto tune guy for many years but never liked replacing the ECM and always thought that re-flashing the stock tuner was the way to go.

I've been considering the PV with auto tune for my new bike (2014 SGS) but this FP3 is much more affordable and utilizing a smart phone as data link and display makes a lot of sense.

Reading the V&H sales hype on their website indicates that the current limitations to stage 1 mods only are map related and not tuner related. I need to learn more about the limitations of the stock narrow band O2 sensors as opposed to wide band but I would think that if the initial map is relatively close, the stock narrow band would work fine.

This unit is certainly getting rave reviews and is food for thought, at least for me.

OK, well I couldn't resist trying to reset my phone, so I did that and I reconnected the FP3, turned the ignition on, and the VIN showed up on my Bluetooth menu. It says "not paired" so I select it and it comes up "device not supported."

While this is happening the FP3 is flashing various lights rapidly, and the instrument panel has a red LED flashing slowly.

All this after a normal flash earlier today that did make a noticeable difference....I was just trying to auto tune it.

I'll be calling Vance&Hines as early as possible tomorrow. At this point I'm concerned that I won't even be able to return it to stock for my road trip. Really bummed right now.

I just installed my FP3 last night.....

If you are running auto tune for a set amount of time and then flash the ECM, can I assume it will start building on the previous flash once you enable the auto tune again? Is there any recommended intervals of when to flash during auto tune?

When it is in auto tune mode and you select view map, you will see the map with orange & green blocks - contacted V&H to see what the colors mean. I assume green is good, but orange?? Anyway, at the bottom you have a button to apply the changes to your base map. It will then ask if you want to stop auto tuning or continue to autotune & build the map. I have been selecting continue so far and it just keeps adjusting the map & I flash periodically. I am not sure how to tell what has been adjusted on the subsequent maps, but I have emailed V&H trying to find out as mentioned above.

I did one auto tune for about 45 min. of various driving and of the 15 or so boxes only two were green and the rest orange. I don't know if that means my map was close to begin with, but I thought it would have made more changes...

From Vance & Hines support:

The autotune function will gather information and reflash your bike once it is complete. After it is complete there is no need to keep the Fuelpak on the bike unless you wish to view your live sensory data. When you go through the app it will inform you if it is complete or not. Green means that autotune has gathered enough information for that cell. Orange means that it has not completed gathering information for that cell. White means that it does not require information for that cell.

I have run a little over 200 miles on autotune so far and I still have more orange than green. I guess I will keep it on autotune a while longer and flash periodically.

Can I assume that once you stop an autotune run and flash (not hit continue), once you start another, it will build the table from where it left off previous (white spaces for already gathered info)?

Well, that is my assumption as well, but I have not tried it yet. I intend to later this week when I can get out there a bit. When you first go into autotune mode you have a choice of which base map to use. The first time, you can choose the map you have downloaded (you have to download and flash a map before autotune is available on menu) or you can start with a "blank" map. That is probably not a great idea unless your bike is bone stock. I am assuming that if i end the autotune session it will save a third map as the autotune results & if I start up again I can choose that one as the base and go from there. We will see and I will report back.

God I love tinkering with my bike.
