Correct the phone streams the music from pandora server, nothing stored. The system will stream pandora via Bluetooth so I would assume some how it will do the same thru the USB or not?

Depends on the file structure in your phone. I have a Windows 8 phone and play music off the 30G memory card installed. Windows 8 phone automatically create folders for each file type stored so I have a dedicated music folder. When my system connects to the phone it uses the default media player in my case windows media. The phone is smart enough to only play files from the music folder. Your issue is with your phones audio player not the bikes system. Do you have all your stuff in one folder or on the root directory or do you store music in a music folder and designate your phone media player to play from that folder?
