I haven't had any issues with mine. Plays music and the GPS is fine for what I want it to do. Definitely an upgrade from earbuds and an Iphone I used on my Road King. I didn't buy the bike because of the infotainment system anyway. To me it is just the icing on the cake.
^^^What he said Mine is fine, does everything I need it to do, more than happy here!

I so agree, Pure Icing on the cake... and its mighty fine cake we are getting with a '14.. I wish all would stop bitchin they have been slighted by the MOCO
You guys have to remember we are all beta testers for everything now. The next version of everything is always better because the MoCo is listening. It may take time, it may require patience. It's no different than new cell phones. First ones out the door have a bug or two, then the updates keep on rolling until the next newest model rolls out. Wait until the next new radio here in a few years. I'd bet money it will have amazing new features we can't even imagine right now, but it'll be buggy and odd at first.
Now how can (why would) they release a flawed system you ask? Most of the time, They're going to have an office full of people think up what they want the system to do, tell who ever is manufacturing the product or software to make it, then they give it to a few or several testers who are told what it does and how to operate it, and kicked out and told to come back with a report on whether it works or not. Now how many of us have test driven a used car and missed a small flaw here or there until after the purchase? There are some situations that i'm sure were just odd things that the testers didn't run into because they only tested big main functions. Now hand the same product to THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of people and then you'll find your smaller odd quirks much more rapidly. So Harley basically has all of you paying them to beta test a product. And in exchange, when people drag their bikes into the dealer and they report the problems to the MoCo they can determine the new found problems, prioritize them, and determine if it's a big enough problem to pay to have it resolved and an update to be made and released.
tl;dr - it's a new piece of tech, until you let a way bigger group of people (the public) than your employees (testers) play with it, you're not gonna find every flaw right off the bat. Have an issue, report it to the dealer, make sure they report it to the mothership (MoCo), and after several people make them aware, and they fix enough bugs to be worth creating a new update, they'll fix it and then they'll release an update. Just have patience. the ambulance isn't typically in your driveway as soon as you tell the dispatcher what's wrong. they've still gotta drive to get there first
A lot of people say "I did not buy it for..." but you did pay for it. I understand that you did not buy the bike for the infotainment but HD did get your money for it. You should at least get what you paid for whether you want it or not.
Jesus Christ...... A GPS On a motorcycle??? Wtf? And cruise control?????? Seriously??? Next thing you know they will have touch screen entertainment modules.... And call them rediculous names like "infotainment system". is that really even a friggin word???? It gives me info, and entertains me while I'm riding my motorcycle? May as well be fiddling with my cell phone at the same time....
Anywho.... I love mine.
I have NO issues with it other then the inconsistent boot up cycle. Sometimes I get radio, sometimes I get play list, sometimes a wait 2min for it to figure out what it wants to do....
But then I say to my self.... "Self, wtf is this **** on my motorcycle??"
And then I just ride off into the sunset without a care in the world....

If you want it to default to Media mode a gentleman named Ken seems to have stumbled upon a fix, I tried it and it seems to be working. Read the last page of posts in this thread-...Infotainment default mode upon start-up

Amen! Whether you like it or not, or use it or not... you and I paid for it! Also, this is not "new technology"... the features of the Infotainment system have been used in automobiles for years.
However, as I said before... I really hope that we get a new software release soon (as we've been hearing) and an update on the map set (even if we have to pay for it).
My biggest hope is that all the issues can be addressed with software, but I wonder...some things like a better (read longer) buffer for the Sirius/XM, for instance, may require larger physical memory components, nixing software...
I guess if the 2015 P&A manual has a replacement Infotainment head unit for the flawed 2014 models for a mere $1500.00, we'll know.
This thread is very informative. I am about to purchase my 1st Harley at the old age of 43, and i am bouncing back in forth between a 14 and 15 Street Glide special. Hearing the issues with the 14 setup, is making me think a little harder about my upcoming decision.
