Can you even imagine for one second the MoCo releasing the 2015 Rushmore with the infotainment as buggy as the 2014 model?
Man, I sure hope they get this thing worked out. The bike is amazing but the poor 'ol infotainment sure got the short end of the Rushmore development stick.
I have learned to work around most all of the ones that can be worked around, but there are a few, as we all know, that are just plain jacked.
My hope is, as is all of ours, that there will be a miraculous new software release to address our woes.
BUT what if there isn't? What if they release an entirely NEW head unit and leave all us 2014 owners hanging?
Might it be time for a class action suite? Like I said, I love the bike. It's EVERYTHING it's advertised to be, amazing, I'd still do it all over again.
But the 'tainment system/GPS is bullshit and should probably never been released.
Every time I go for a ride the thing pisses me off, so I turn it off and just enjoy the ride. Probably the best thing anyway...LOL
Wah......
I'm so tired of people crying about the infotainment system.
I just bought a 2014 FLHTK and I love the bike. If it was up to me it would be available without the infotainment / navigation system. probably will never happen but if it does the next trade won't cost as much.
This thread is very informative. I am about to purchase my 1st Harley at the old age of 43, and i am bouncing back in forth between a 14 and 15 Street Glide special. Hearing the issues with the 14 setup, is making me think a little harder about my upcoming decision.
I wouldnt let the infotainment center be your deciding factor. There are quirks and inconveniences, and some of them do have work arounds but it won't keep you from riding. I don't see HD making any major changes, I could be wrong, but how long did it take them to make changes for this year. They may come out with new colors and the Road Glide but that would be it. They will come out with a software update but it may not come out until the 15's it the floor.

I wouldn't call this thread informative. It's a complaint thread.
I seriously doubt the hardware will be even slightly changed on the 15s. There might be a software update, but guess what, if it's any good, we can download it. And that's a big if. Sometimes improvements are anything but.
I love my bike. It's a pleasure to ride and the Infotainment system is head and shoulders better than the basic HK system on my 11 Ultra. Perfect - no. Great - yes! And the HK system wasn't perfect either. There was just less to go wrong. Kinda like having an old A.M. radio. Sure, it works perfectly. But so what? Who wants perfect A.M.?

I so agree, Pure Icing on the cake... and its mighty fine cake we are getting with a '14.. I wish all would stop bitchin they have been slighted by the MOCO
I've been happy with the Infotainment system on my 2014 Limited. There were a couple of bugs when I first got the bike a year ago but two or three software updates squashed those for me.
The system is as good or better than the systems in my 2012 Jeep and 2013 Audi.
I love the integration with the bike (voice commands and handlebar controls) that any standalone GPS can't hope to offer. Bluetooth streaming audio, USB/iPod audio/control and telephone functions perfectly with my iPhone 5.
Do guys buy a motorcycle for the info BS or to ride?
I'm a first time harley owner. I bought the my Limited because they added modern technology to the bike. I've rented a few Harleys over the years with the older stereo and the radio was a complete joke. This one is a partial joke - so much potential to be world class but hampered by stupid bugs and a glacially slow release schedule for firmware.
I use the Info to ride better. I understand that a good portion of the Harley faithful don't care about new technology - but for me, it's why I choose to buy my 14 Limited.
After complaining in my last post - I have to say that even knowing what I know now, I would buy this bike again without hesitation. I hope they fix the bugs when the '15 are released.
list bugs that I know of off the top of my head:
don't use special characters in destination names or the Nav will crash badly. For example, don't have a destination name like: Ruth's Chris Steak House.
Radio will randomly swap over to weather channels
you HAVE to wait until the 'accept' screen before starting the bike or the dreaded volume bug will likely bite
NAV has serious waypoint limitations
If you use the 'auto brightness' setting, the display will get stuck in 'night' mode at times.
NAV has routed me off an exit and right back onto the interstate
