Default 2015 Infotainment

Can you even imagine for one second the MoCo releasing the 2015 Rushmore with the infotainment as buggy as the 2014 model?

Man, I sure hope they get this thing worked out. The bike is amazing but the poor 'ol infotainment sure got the short end of the Rushmore development stick.

I have learned to work around most all of the ones that can be worked around, but there are a few, as we all know, that are just plain jacked.

My hope is, as is all of ours, that there will be a miraculous new software release to address our woes.

BUT what if there isn't? What if they release an entirely NEW head unit and leave all us 2014 owners hanging?

Might it be time for a class action suite? Like I said, I love the bike. It's EVERYTHING it's advertised to be, amazing, I'd still do it all over again.

But the 'tainment system/GPS is bullshit and should probably never been released.

Every time I go for a ride the thing pisses me off, so I turn it off and just enjoy the ride. Probably the best thing anyway...LOL

Wow its that bad? Been thinking of getting a 14, but having second thoughts the more I read about them. Sounds like they should have stuck with the old stereo, I would be ok with that.

No it's not that bad. On a forum you are going to hear mostly complaints but rarely praise, it's just the nature of forums. Not saying that there are no issues but most don't need the very best radio....the very best GPS....the very best diagnostics that money can buy. The infotainment is an all in one device with some much improved features. I like the GPS and it works fine for me. I don't need more than 9 waypoints on any trip...just the destination for each day. I can get anywhere on this continent in 9 days. Besides, I didn't even know what a waypoint was before reading this forum nor do I care. And most know that the '15 Road Glides system has more than 9 waypoints which means a fix will be on the way. The radio is a radio....they ALL could be better and need an amp and better speakers.

Frankly I can't remember any modern electronic device that worked 100% flawlessly without any glitches. The infotainment has voice activation, can answer phone calls and texts, a built in color GPS with the ability to add satellite traffic warnings and weather right on the screen, a sound system that you can connect MP3 devices by USP and a place to store the device and all this on a big touch screen with toggle controls on the bars. Not to mention all of this is included in your standard and extended warranty.

Yeah it sucks and I wish I had my old Harmon Kardon standard radio.

Sorry to those that may disagree, but I won't be going back and am satisfied that the MoCo has decided to step up to the plate and modernize some of the antiquated features that have been regurgitated since forever. Besides if you don't like it....just turn it off and ride and you have the same as a pre Rushmore bike!

Flame on.

I love mine but live with the quirks. I fully believe the rushmore debut was scheduled for 15 release with the roadglide but the indian release was scheduled for 14 and they pushed up the release of the rushmore's except roadglide. just my opinion but would explain alot, Mike

I actually really like the 6.5. Every built in NAV system that comes as an option in a vehicle is not going to be as user friendly as a Garmin or the like. The advantage though is that it's all integrated. I'm happy with mine now and will also welcome software updates. I'd do it all over again the same way too.

I also am not crazy about the buggy radio/GPS... I do a lot of IT quality assurance work and it's hard to believe that much testing was done on this system. However, I can live with it.

What is really annoying is the lack of response or updates from H-D. We all know that there is always "version 1.0" problems with technology, but usually companies get updates out on some regular frequency. I haven't seen one software upgrade... and the map is at least 1.5 years old. I'm not feeling the love!!!

Default Agree with PLONGSON...

It's a great bike and I really like it and would not give it back for my '12 FLHTK. However, IMHO the Infotainment system just doesn't measure up to the rest of the bike. It COULD be fixed with software. Many members here have pointed out features and fixes that would make it easier to use. Problem is, the cooperation of Naviteq (nav software and maps) and Harman Kardon (hardware and probably system level software) are needed. Who pays? HK and Naviteq probably say they delivered what Harley wanted, and if HD wants fixes then HD needs to fork over some cash.

Then again, maybe the rumored 1.18.x software due out at dealer meeting next week will solve all the problems. I'm not holding my breath...I'm going out and ride.

I think Ron summarized it well! I've been down on Harleys for 35 years because they have been technologically and mechanically inferior to their competition. With that said, I took a 2011 CVO for a ride and was impressed enough to begin doing some research which resulted in my purchase of a 2014 FLHTK. I love the bike and am happy with my purchase. I wish I'd done more research on the infotainment system, not that it would have swayed my decision, but it would have prepared me for the half baked system that it is.
The folks who say "what did you buy the bike for, the radio or the ride?" are showing their ignorance. That's like buying a loaf of bread and finding a spot of mold and the merchant saying, "just cut it out and make a sangwich and be happy!" It just doesn't work that way, the vendor stays in business by being responsive to the customer! Harley Davidson is no different and, if 2015 doesn't bring a correction, they'll lose customers. Sure, some folks are technologically challenged and wear blinders and cover that by saying they don't need any waypoints, but for the real travelers, they know there are things they want to see when they travel and set them as waypoints.
The Rushmore Project shows that they somewhat, not completely, get it. Let's hope they continue to respond to riders' wishes and complaints.

I haven't had any issues with mine. Plays music and the GPS is fine for what I want it to do. Definitely an upgrade from earbuds and an Iphone I used on my Road King. I didn't buy the bike because of the infotainment system anyway. To me it is just the icing on the cake.
