Yes - and thanks for the links (both of you). I had to laugh about the fuel cap rattle. I had forgotten that was also an issue on the '18 and '19. I had changed out the stock on my '18 for the Dominion caps - the fuel cap didn't rattle. When I traded, I swapped and kept them and sure enough, the '19 cap rattled. I really like the flush caps you have - I don't think they were available in '18 - maybe I missed them but very nice.

To give credit, I do not have the flush caps - that is Hulkss picture shown above.
Not sure what changed with the older TC to the newer M8 styled softails. My
'13 softail fuel-level guage cap & fuel-fill cap have never "rattled"...

Stay warm!

You, too! Dallas has been hit harder than Louisville but still some records broken.

Default 2018 Heritage 114 Stage 2

Wish you all the best. I just traded my FLHCS in for a 2009 Crossbones. My Heritage had 22,800 mi.’s and issues kept piling up. ‘18 oil pump revision, pre-ignition knock during summer only, squealing left-side counter-balancer after 5 hours or more riding. Stage 2 torque cam causes starting idle to shoot up to 3,200 rpm which isn’t good for the lifters. Exhaust system was S.E. Street Cannons. Vibration from the crank 1,860 rpm and down is not a good indicator of design quality. Harley got ahead of themselves with the 114, compression being too high is causing these issues. The bike does better in the Northern climate, not so good in the South. Only a third of the oil runs through the stock oil cooler. Installed an UltraCool dual-fan oil cooler about 2 months after purchase. Cheers!

What a shame - I just passed 23,000 on my '19 Heritage 114 and have not had a single issue. I do have the condensation issue in the instrument cluster but honestly, that is it. The bike has been flawless and if something happened to this one, I would get another. I suspect anyone can get that infamous "lemon" and sounds like you got unlucky. I had a 2018 Heritage 107 for just over 12,000 miles and also no issue except that damn condensation.

Enjoy that Crossbones and stay safe!

Thanks! Higher humidity relates to some of that, I also have concerns regarding SYN 3 since a couple of times while checking the oil level while the squealing was going on the dipstick showed splotchy or splattered oil instead of smoothly or uniform covering of the dipstick. This would seem to discourage hydrodynamic lubrication and possibly indicate pressure building in the crankcase aerating the oil.....????

That is an interesting point and well worth starting a thread on the "Tech and Mechanical" forum. Following up with that oil issue could explain some of the other issues and I would suspect they are tied together. Did you install or have H-D install the torque cam? In either case, did you have the vibration and squeal before the install?

You no longer have the bike and I am not assuming to start a trouble shooting process as I would suspect you had H-D look into the issues. Syn 3 seems to be an excellent product and I think you had something else going on to cause so many issues that could be tied together.

If you can follow up on the bike, it would be educational to know what is going on.

I have a 2019 Heritage 114 and so far zero problems EXCEPT CONDENSATION which will end today when I receive my Dakota MLX 2011 K digital speedometer. That Milwaukee 8 114 is a hell of a motor. I look at it this way, I can get tickets for speeding just the way it is. It’s a Heritage not a rice rocket. ( no disrespect meant ) I might consider going stage one down the road but that’s it. I’m going on a 20 day ride this summer and want dependability and pure enjoyment. My buddies who I ride with have no issues ether with their Milwaukee 8s.
Well that’s my 2 cents on this.
Stay safe y’all

All work performed by my local H-D dealership. All engine oil replaced every 3K miles, Transmission every 3-4K and the Primary oil every 2,500-3,000 miles. Squeal was at 12K first time, 16K second, and 18K the third. Torque cam wasn’t installed until 20K or so.

Also looking at a 15 day ride early summer (hopefully). KY to CO and anywhere else nearby. Hope the cam mod doesn't cause me worries. I am 65 and the wild riding days are waaaay behind me. But I do have a passion for performance and horsepower is a fever - for me.

That Dakota package looks very nice. I might forfeit the seat and go for for it. I really have been comfortable with the stock seat. Just another wild hair.

Staying home too much is costing me $$$$.
