I like mine. A lot. I probably would have tried a Mustang on this bike if not for the fact that I needed to move up and away from the tank. The Mustangs don't do that in this application and Ultimate has opted not to make one for the M8 FB.

Did you go for the rider's backrest on yours?

I didn't.
I actually wanted to get a fully customized seat from GetLowered but they didnt respond to my 2nd email telling them I was actually ready to buy the seat, and then I gave em a call and no one answered. So I just said whatever, and ordered the standard RS seat. I didnt think I'd need a back rest for long rides since Ill probably be putting a pack/backpack on the back seat for me to lean back on if I really wanted. Im a bit sad I wont have a heated driver seat, but eh its whatever. Half style choice, half comfort.

I finally found a black speedo trim ring for mine, and I got a couple extras in case someone else wants one:

Some folks get along just fine without a backrest. I did for a long time. Back surgery required a switch for me. A backrest/backpack would work fine too.

I like the black chrome you've got going on your bike Bob

Another vote for the saddlemen explorer rs. Love mine, I got the rider backrest too however rarely use it.

I haven’t seen any posts for anyone doing it yet on here. I guess you tried the dark side thread too? Shouldn’t be a problem with this model for sure, wide profile, not much lean angle, should suit it well imo.

Never seen it but I am gonna do the 260mm Rear tire.
Some people have said with the breakout and fat boy if you put a 260 rear on your bike it gives the rear tire a more aggressive profile and makes the bike corner better.
My bike has the original set of tires on it and so I uh definitely need to get new tires out of safety reasons alone. Old tires=bad grip. Original owner nor dealership cared to check the tires, so it falls on me. Such is life.

As far as age goes Fran your tires should be fine. Unless it's been sitting out in the sun extensively. Three years is well within the safety range of tire age. Still I'll be waiting to hear about your experiences with a 260 and whether or not you feel it "helps" the handling. Truthfully I believe my bike handles fine. I've been around the proverbial block many times and I have complete faith in this bike to deliver honest and consistent feedback, and get me through the twisties safely, so long as I don't try to ride it like a sportbike. If I didn't come out of a corner it would almost certainly be due to scraping hard parts, not tire failure to stick.

I'll definitely fill everyone in on the tire experiment.
Currently I plan on doing the 260 tire plus Fox RSD IFP-R 13inch monoshock, with progressive fork springs, but after that I feel no interest in spending more money on suspension stuff. "That's just the way the bike is" sorta thing.
Hulkss discovered that the fox monoshock had the longest travel of all the monoshocks he tested, and after riding the bike at minimum rear preload and discovering that even though I'm some 20lbs underweight of the bike's minimum, it doesn't feel stiff at all like I thought it would. So spending an extra 152$ for a wilber's monoshock weighted to me was pointless, a 160lb weighted shock will be just fine. Plus I got a discount code for the place I'm buying the fox shock from, even more money saved.
