What the difference between the Standard M8 114 Softail aircleaner filter and the Ventilator K/N filter?
I'm looking at the 114 Fat Boy, and all of the stock 114s have that bar oval air cleaner with the grey filter element.
The one in the Ventilator filter is a Pink K/N filter though.
So what's the difference between these two?
Might sound dumb but I can just buy that K/N filter instead of the whole kit right?
My plan is to go up to a eventually go with a 117 Cylinder Kit with, an SnS 475c Camchest, and the harley highperformance Clutchpack, but I want to keep the stock aircleaner and exhaust look.(with slip ons)

In my opinion spending lots of money and tearing down the entire top end for a 2.6% increase in displacement is not worth it. Go big if you are doing all that work.
When I had a stage 1 done on the bike I had the air filter changed to a K/N. You do not need to change the backplate behind the air filter. That is what you get in the kits. The stock backplate is already a high airflow plate.
I hope this made sense.

Sweet, saves me some money on that upgrade path.
Got the K&N version of the ventilator installed on my Low Rider. About 35% larger surface area than the stock filter on the LR. K&N shows a dyno curve purporting gains of +5.2 HP and 2.48 lb-ft torque over the stock 107 M8 with no other changes. Fit is good, but my knee hits it just a little bit. Definitely hear the intake sound compared to the stock air cleaner. Installed in about 15-20 minutes. Very well built. Only weird thing is that the lines on the cover don't look horizontal when installed. But seems like a bargain for only $150 street price compared to other cleaners.

Unforutnately I'm not a fan of that look, but I do very much like the overall look of the Harley 114 Venilator. I was more interested in the filter element differences because I noticed the Stock element and SE element are different ones.
Im thinking If I go with a totally aftermarket one, I wanna get the Arlen Ness Velocity 65, because its one of the highest flow M8 intakes on the market.

I had to look that one up. That is one odd looking air cleaner.
