Default Saddlebag Guards and Crash Bars

So I nearly dropped my new to me Heritage this past weekend. Threw my back out in the process of saving it from hitting the ground. Pulled up to get gas, planted my foot and my foot slipped out from under me.

Any recommendations on saddlebag and engine guards? I want some peace of mind in case I ever drop my bike.

The front and rear guards from H-D are what you need.

Is there anything on the market that makes them look less like learner school bikes?
I'd be looking to have something myself but can't stand the looks of what I've seen so far, would love to have something along the lines of R&G crash bungs

I second Hulkss' statement, the Harley bars work well, plus you can add the front lowers for rain or windy conditions...

The HD black saddlebag guards for the new Heritage models are on backorder from HD. Just a heads up.

thanks. I see some on Ebay and Cobra or Hogworks. Are the HD ones better for some reason. I know they are more expensive but can’t see any difference in the photo of HDs and others.

I have no idea on that. Maybe someone else can chime in if they have experience with aftermarket guards.

Put after-market engine guard on my last bike before I traded it. The guard was just as sturdy and the welds just as good as the HD version, and a lot cheaper. The only issues was that the mounting holes were a little off so that I had to work to get the guard to line up. Also, the bolts were the wrong size so that I had to make a trip to Ace Hardware to get better mounting bolts that were the same size. But, if you are willing to spend a little time mounting it, the after-market engine guard works just fine and you can save a couple of hundred $s.

FYI: As in the picture above, the soft lowers only fit the traditional, full sized guard and really help in winter. Plus, the full size guard gives additional protection to the saddle bags.

Thank You! Do you recall where you purchased your aftermarket bars and the name brand?
