You missed the point I was making with this one which is fair because I wasnt specific.
It's not the bike itself, its the engine. HD has a cheaper more modular DOHC engine on the ground now that puts the best of Indian's stuff to shame, which harms the FTR.
While the PanAm Special isnt a good competitor, the Pan Am base models are a reasonably fair alternative for an FTR Special or other high trim version if you want something better that has a dirt origin. They arent the best comparison but because of the engine and design purpose they clash in some cases.
It's really the engine that matters here though, that RevoMax slaps the best effort Indian has and PanAm introduced it.

Surprised no one has mentioned the fact that the dummy gas cap on the left side is gone for 2022. While the dummy cap was useless, it did add some balance to the look of the tank. so I guess for 2022 we get cast wheels (spokes are a $400 option), new colors, no dummy gas cap and a price increase.
Stange how people's taste differ. I am very happy that my Sport Glide has an "antiquated" M8 engine.
Cheers,
M
Not a thing wrong with an M8 Sport Glide. Really nice bike. But you have to admit, twisting the throttle past 7K on a 150HP bike is a different flavor of enjoyment

That "less for more" theme has been going on now for a couple decades.
The Vivid Black with black cast wheels and black forks looks good to me. Sinister throwback. lol
I mentioned this is another thread - black (Murder, sinister, evil...) out is a fade that is selling to the younger crowd, I like it but wouldnt want it for long i think it would get stale. I like chrome - too me thats what set HD apart from the Metrics was their chrome, attention to detail & just creating a better looking & more solid well built bike. They`re going backwards & when the Black out fade is gone you wont be able to give that black faded, flaking crap away.

Yeah - but they`re taking it to another level, I find it funny that before the pandemic there were a glut of used HD`s for sale, garage queens everywhere..........Now, they`re magically gone & New bikes are being reserved, either people kept them, or sold them for a big profit or............... traded them & with the free money and time off had / having a hell of a time????? they`ve acclimated people to a shortage & therefore are using that as marketing to remove things & charge more - what a beautiful business move!

I think it's the American market for Motorcycles, Cars, Trucks Etc. Make it go faster with stupid amounts of HP. Just look at the Dodge Demon, GT500. or Jeep Trackhawk. Take an existing platform and drop the biggest badest motor in in and people will buy it.

But that's only been the case for the past 100 years.

Yes, but my '17 160HP 1200 Multistrada is a heck of a lot more fun that my 82HP '76 KZ900 was.
