Because the cast looks like hell. And even if you choose the chrome package, the wheels are still black. And on top of that HD wants to charge extra for spokes. Smacks of cheap.
Looks like you can get it with at least 3 versions of the wheels. and every auto manufacture charges for upgraded wheels so why is it an issue on a Harley?
Because it's not an "upgrade" it was stock just last year. It's BS.
From that perspective it IS BS. From what the dealer told me a few months ago, the issue with spokes is a supply chain thing. So they are pushing the cast and charging for the spokes.
Ok, so I am a chrome guy looking for a 2018+ Heritage. So what are my options? I find just the right 107 from 2020 or 2021 with chrome spokes. I purchase a new 2022 and pay the upcharge for chrome spokes. I purchase a new 2022 and take the black cast and look for a good company to re-chrome them. <--- Admittedly I do like the style of the new cast wheels just not the black. Or I look for aftermarket wheels in chrome. So there goes another $500 - $1500 Uggh
Milkman,
Scoot looks great with those bags. I had a similar set on my 95 Badboy back in the day. Can you show a pic of the other side of the bike so I can see what exhaust you're running and how it looks. Thanks.............ted

Here you go.
These are Iron Bags. The fiberglass backside of the right bag has a molded-in "tunnel" for exhaust clearance. Running Rinehart 3.5 inch slip-ons here.

Even if you go with aftermarket wheels, which if I had the money, would be my choice, I would get the cast wheels. If you buy aftermarket, you could sell the cast easily. As horrible as everyone on here says they look, there would be a bunch of people willing to buy them or trade you their spoke wheels. Either way, you pay less up front, and either get spokes at no cost ot get some money towards aftermarket.
The colors on the HD website don't seem to match what the look like in person, or at least this one I saw today. It's fresh off the truck and not put together yet.
Your not kidding about the colors. This looks good, thanks for sharing.
...I purchase a new 2022 and pay the upcharge for chrome spokes...
@bduds65 I just bought a rear 18" 40-spoke to match my 21" front. Not counting tires, it was right at $1000 for both rims, custom made to fit the bike no shims..etc, and tubeless.. not going to get that from HD. I agree with @txphatboy about buying the cast, and selling them will recoup most of the money needed to buy any aftermarket rim of your choice. For as many spoke haters on here, there's gotta be someone willing to buy your "cast-offs"

I agree, plus if you really like spokes you can get tubeless if you buy aftermarket.
