I did a frame-up build on a 2019 Softail Slim this past winter. After 2,500+ miles on the build, the FBW throttle is (randomly) disengaging, which is quite disconcerting when you're in traffic. Initially, I thought I didn't have the control module far enough in, but that's not the issue. I remove the entire assembly to inspect it and there's no apparent wear on the end of the FBW. I'm stumped. Has anyone seen this issue?
First of I suggest you start cheap, check if you have any fault codes register on the Speedo, work from there if so.
Check all the wiring for damage and that the connector pins in the Twist Grip Sensor wiring circuit are fully engaged in their connectors, they can be loose and get pushed back when you put the connectors together.
Then if nothing found check the resistance of the wiring and carry out wiggle tests to see if there are any broken strands enough to change the resistance.
After all that you are probably looking at substitution of the throttle twist grip sensor and or ECM!
