Default Lower handlebars

The bars on my Heritage are like mini ape hangers and I would like to get something lower, maybe beachbars with risers. My question to those that have done this is did you have to extend the electrical wires and cables or is the stock length good.

I am not an expert in this area, but I would think if you are going shorter, you should have plenty of cable length. I suppose the question would be, are stock cable too long for your situation and would you have worry about hiding the excess?

I have stock bars from my 19 Heritage if you are interested. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/softa...ser-clamp.html

Not trying to be an ******* but think about your question... if you lower the height of your bars, why would you need to add additional length to your cables?

Because some of the beach bars are a lot longer in length, thus taking up the slack. I ordered a set of Hollywood bars from HD and will see how these work.

That is true. I had not thought of that. You mean the Softail Deluxe style? Yeah they do go out pretty far.

I swapped out the stock handlebars on my ‘19 Heritage for the stock bars from the FXLR Low Rider. They are lower and wider and close to the handlebars I had on my ‘94 FLSTN. No changes to the wiring were necessary.

Looks good Uncle G! Did you do it yourself and if so, was it hard? I do have a PDF manual to go by plus I did the job on my 2013 Honda VTX 1300. Hate to pay someone when I can do it myself.

I just put the same bars Uncle G did on my '20 Heritage, easy job, did not have to pull connectors apart either, not a bad job at all. Leave your front brake master all together, just hang it somewhere, same with the clutch side. Pull the tank, undo the connectors, pull the bars with the wires in them, swap the wires and switches from old bar to new bars on your workbench, then put it back together, just make notes of what connectors go where before you pull the connectors.
OH YES, pull your main fuse first, big fuse behind LH side cover.
