A guy on the Facebook Low Rider ST Owner's group posted a pic of his bike with the new Puig Windscreen. Looks good but might not be tall enough for some.

Yes I tried that one- it's a very smooth airflow but not quite tall enough for a taller rider. otherwise it's brilliant!

When you say taller rider, what height are we talking about? I looked through the thread and I didn't see where you've ever stated your height.

Agree it would be good to include our height. I’m 6’ with a goofy short inseam at 29-30”. I’m awaiting the fool proof design and height, this thread is perfect for that. I tried both Klockwerks 8” and 10” and believe there is something better to be produced. I think the CV is the current best but like the looks of the Puig.

keep it coming folks

There has to be some crazy distortion looking through that thing.

Whoops sorry. I'm 5'11" in old money. I think the Puig would work very well for someone below 5'10" or who has a short torso.

Default Passengers too!

Another BIG thing to consider and discuss is how it affects the passenger.

My wife is the same height as me. On a Sundowner (which I leave on all the time, its brilliant now I've put a gel pad under the cover) she sits above me slightly.

On my old ultra, we could find NO screen that fixed her buffetting that i then had to look through. On the LRST the stock screen has proven to be the least disturbing for her. I get some shimmy but it's negligible and as such I keep coming back to it- I would like to try the HD 10" one, as I feel that would give a good balance of rider helmet protection without creating buffetting for the passenger.

I have seen elsewhere that tall CV screens introduce the dreaded vacuum that affects passengers.

Anyone?

Trying to figure out the right windscreen for my FXLRST, my first try at reducing noise and making freeway rides less sketchy is this 8" Klock Werks Flare. It didn't cut noise or wind blast but did add just enough buffeting for me to say that I have something new to hate. I really don't want to randomly waste a bunch of time and cash so any advice will be considered. Plus I don't feel like messing with the grommets any more than I need to, I did buy a couple of sets from PJ because I can read how this is going to go. I'm not foolish enough to think it's going to be ride like a Road Glide on the superslab, but I gotta think that things should be better. Yeah I know that my LS2 Advant X isn't helping and I need to wear ear plugs, but even with ear plugs and stock pipes riding at 50+ makes my ears ring.

I'm not tall, my limbs are a bit stubby, but my torso is longer than average. I don't exactly tower over the landscape but the top of my baldness is about a foot above the top of the Flare. With the original windscreen the bike is great around town and up to around 60 on the twisty, beyond that it's mildly unpleasant with enough torso blast on the highway to make things very not relaxed. With 2" taller Klock Werks it's borderline intolerable over 50 mph. My guess is that the 10" Klock Works is likely to add buffeting but I hate guessing. Feel free to weigh in.
Anybody in the greater Portland OR area want a Klock Werks with the plastic but no logo badge?
Anybody try making a RG style flap for the vent?
Should I try Clearview large or XL?
Anybody have any other ideas?
Really wanting to hear from those with similar setups and some success.
5'10"+

3'6" nuts to noggin
Saddlemen Step-Up
12" Destroyer pullback risers w/ Big Al's Nick Leonetti bars (2.5"?)

With the taller bars you are sitting way further away from the fairing, a huge source of buffetting.

At that level of bar height, the only thing (on any bike) is to go shorter. Try it- go for a ride without the screen on and tell me I'm crazy...!!!

I don't think this advice is too far off. I tried the tallest Clearview and ended up with their shortest "Summer" screen. It gets my helmet in to "clean air" and almost eliminated buffeting. The largest XL unit caused the air to just hit the top of my helmet and rattle my brain so bad that I couldn't even focus my vision. I am 6'1" with long arms and legs and medium torso length if any of that helps and my bars are still stock height.
