Question Software update question

I have a 2024 Street Glide. The HD download website for the IFCU shows 2 packages
IFCUSkyline™ OS REC -- 240003254D AND. IFCUSkyline™ OS -- 260004125D.

Can anyone tell me what's the difference?
What is REC?
Do I need them both?
Is so should I install the lower number first?

Thanks in advance!

The INSTANA_260004125D is the current update file. The INSTANA_240003254D file is a previous version. You might not need it.

Check your current software.. Go to Settings > System > System Info. If it says INSTANA_240002237D, you won't need the OS REC -- 240003254D file. If it says something else, you will.

In case you haven't seen this link.. It has precise installation instructions there. How to burn the USB sticks, how to install them, what you'll see during the install... and how to deal with any problems you might encounter: (It also explains what I mentioned above about the 3254D file --> https://serviceinfo.harley-davidson....44811601821147

I did the IFCU update recently, and everything seemed to go smoothly, but now I can't connect to wireless CarPlay. My phone shows up as connected in Device Manager but with a grayed out CarPlay icon next to it. The CarPlay button on the main menu is also grayed out. CarPlay is enabled on the phone in Bluetooth settings and the bike shows up on the "My Cars" list in the phone's CarPlay settings. The SENA BT headset also shows paired and connected in Device Manager and is set to the rider position.

Tapping on the CarPlay button on the main menu does nothing and If I try to connect using the "Connect" button in device manager I get a message with a swirling circle that says "Apple CarPlay connection in progress" but nothing happens. If I plug my phone into the USB-C cable CarPlay launches immediately, it just won't launch wirelessly.

I've tried everything I can think of, deleting all devices (from phone and IFCU) and starting over, doing a factory reset on the IFCU, rebooting my phone, trying different power up sequences, etc. I've even tried it with the phone paired and not paired to the Sena. Oddly, sometimes when I try to re-pair my phone to the IFCU, I don't get the prompt to enable CarPlay. I've found I have to change the name of my phone and re-pair to get the prompt to enable CarPlay. One of the times I re-paired and enabled CarPlay I got an error message saying, "Error connecting iPhone to Apple CarPlay."

I know it was working last December before I put the bike away for the winter but that was with my previous phone (iPhone 12) and before the IFCU update. (I think tonight I'll try it again with my old phone just to eliminate the phone as a cause)
  • iPhone 16 with latest iOS update
  • Sena 20S EVO with latest firmware update (I've also tried it with my H-D branded Sena 20S with the same results)
  • IFCU updated to INSTANA_240003254D and INSTANA_260004125D

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Some other odd things I've noticed after the update:
  • The "WiFi" menu option is missing from the main menu.
  • The new "Over The Air Updates" menu option is grayed out.
  • Sometimes I open the Bike Accessories menu and there are 5 menu options and other times there are only 3.

Maybe try to remove your phone from device manager and then re-add it.

Thanks for the suggestion but I tried that multiple times with no success.

As I mentioned above, I deleted everything in device manager and deleted the bike from the Bluetooth settings and CarPlay settings in my phone and re-paired everything, but it still won't work.

You’ve done everything I would try… last step would be to redo the software update.

That's what I was thinking too, it's worth a try before I take it back to the dealer.

I had the Identical issue, Unfortunately a visit to the dealer is required, I tried everything as you did and nothing would recover the IFCU unit, Dealer had to contact tech support and through the digi tech they recovered the system, Wifi and CarPlay now connect wirelessly without issues, your warranty will cover this..HD tech support is aware of this Issue..

Thank you for this!

While I’m not thrilled about having to take the bike to the dealer you likely saved me more frustrating hours trying to figure it out.

It’s also helpful to hear that they’re aware of the issue and have a fix for it. Riding season is just starting to ramp up here so I shouldn’t miss out on too much riding.

Well I dropped the bike off at the dealer today and they’ll take a look at it next week. They went through the screens to confirm the issue and made sure it wasn’t something obvious (or not so obvious) that I’d missed. The issue was new to them so apparently this is the first for them. (Yay me)

I passed on the info I’d learned here, about it being a known issue with H-D, and they said they’d look into it.
