Maybe I'm just not being clear.

I'm not trying to buy the jack. I have a Harbor Freight jack which appears to be identical, and Harbor Freight is a PITA to get PARTS from, so I'd like to order some Sears/Craftsman parts to fix my jack. However, when I use the Item# or Mfr # from either the craftsman.com or sears.com websites to search for parts the parts website can't find a product that matches those numbers.

So I was hoping that someone who actually had the jack could look at the model number that is actually put on the jack itself, so that I could save a 45 minute (one way) trip to a Sears to get the number off the jack.

 

Not to hijack, but I just bought a Dyna FXD this week and need to get educated. Where exactly do you place the modfied jack to avoid damaging the bike? In other words, where are the approved lifting points? Got a link with a picture?

 

Approved lifting points? I'm not sure H-D has an official stance on this.

The modified jack can really only fit one way. It is what it is. You won't damage anything. I've lifted mine several times now testing and other than having to move my clutch cable out from under the motor, only the frame is sitting on the lift pads.

I did find myself near lowe's yesterday so I went ahead and bought some grade 8 bolts. 1/2" x 6".

The more I look at those photos...the more I think "wow, that sucker is nasty dirty."

 

Looks good, I have an 05, but I think it should work fine. I had to go grade 5 bolts x 6", thats all they had at the local hardware store this morning.

 

I did this mod to my Harbor Freight jack yesterday, used 1/2" x 5" bolts and had to drill the holes out slightly. Made a huge difference, the lift is now so much better for a Dyna now. Awesome mod!

Nice to see I'm not the only one with a dirty bike. I've been doing some winter riding, and my bike is nasty.

 

I think the bolts I had were 5". Only a couple of threads grabbed. That's why I suggested using 5.5"-6" long bolts.


Over the past 6mos or so, my chances to ride have been greatly diminished so when the chance arises I don't usually waste time cleaning.

I really need to fix the dented tank and paint 'er. After seeing that metal flake and flat black paint in the other thread posted by SurforChop...it's got me thinking. I was gonna paint it myself. Never done it before but would like to take a crack at it. Worst that happens is I have to sand it back down and spray it again. The mechanic that let me use his shop tools to make the jack mod also has full paint supplies and has offered to teach me. He doesn't have a booth. He paints cars outside. I'd probably built a booth out of 2x4's and some clear landscape plastic or something. That's another thread/video.

 

You wouldn't need much of a booth, just enough room for you and the tins. The OL has a nice studio out back, so we are pretty much set, at least for airbrush work.
Let me know when you are ready, maybe I will bring my nail gun down if you buy the beer....lol
