I had a really old jack and just got the sears one and did the mod. You definitely should get 7" instead of 6" bolts (unless you want to knock off and out back the kick stand bumper everytime) and it needs spacers(1/2" on right and 1" on left). Should have placed even another spacer on the left for really easy operation.

Good mod but the above spacing is key.

I was looking at getting a jack for my lowrider and will definitely check on the Sears. I was a little apprehensive about it before, but it appears a lot of people have it and are satisfied with it. I was just wondering, for those of you that have done the modifications, do you still need to strap the bike down to the jack, or is it stable enough without it to work on the bike?

I depends on what you are doing....
Tire change, or moving the bike around, DEFINATELY strap it down.
Checking fall away, general cleaning or maintenance, it's not really needed, but can't hurt.
It is not like the J&S or Pitbull where they hang on with without straps (at least I wouldn't)

Hey FYI!
The Jack is on sale now for $84.99 But here's the kicker! Use the coupon code "SAVE15" and you get an additional $15 off! So it comes out to be $69.99 for the jack!
That's a price I couldn't say no!

If there was a "thanks" button, you'd get a click. That is a bargain!

I finally got this jack and did the mod to it. Im stilll not seeing how its suppose to work. The lifting pads still need to be further apart for this to work it doesnt clear there rear of the tranny case,it hits the case before the frame.
Anyone get this to work on there 2011 wide glide?

Re-position the jack. It worked fine on my '09 Super Glide Custom.

If you didn't add any spacers between pad and lift frame it should still work fine. Adding a 1/2" at all points between pad and lift frame will allow the mod to work better.

If you want a HF jack, they are on sale for $59.99 with the coupon in American Iron.
