Or you could have buffed all that out. I did my riser bolts and they look like chrome. Actually, I did all the stock bolts I could pull. Just have to keep them waxed and they're fine.

True, against the black risers the black looks better in my opinion.

Your polished bolts look very good.

Trick is not to buff through the thin nickel/cad coatings. I have some bronze showing on a couple of the primary adjustment cover screws. Oh, and your rig looks great; I hope I didn't seem to be slighting it.

Hi Lads,

I don't know if it has been mentioned before but here is a simple way to whiten the letters on your tyres.

I used a rubber like foam like a stamp and dabbed the paint on. Took me half an hour to do the lot.

Cheers

AusMongrel,

Very clever, and here I went and got one of those dumb tire pens.
Gave up on using that after an hour of frustration because I couldn't keep the pen from making a mess.
I'm going to have to give that trick a try.
Got any idea how long that Plasti-Kote paint lasts, or any ideas on what might work better or last longer?
Be a pain if it came off after only a few miles and you had to keep doing it all the time.

I am not sure how long it will last. It was the only white paint I had laying around LOL!!

I suppose you could go over it with a clear coat to try and protect it, but I will see how long it last without it first.

I seriously was VERY easy. There was a little mess, but a small screwdriver wrapped in a rag will fix that!!

I will be giving it a go over with some rubber protector to bring up the black - should look great!! I will post more pics when I do that.

Cheers
Mongrel

Default FloorBoard Extention, Sort of...

Here is the way I did my FloorBoard Extention with out actually extending anything...

Are there any big guys here that ride softails and want to strech out your legs, but dont want to spend your hard earned cash on Floorboard extentions? Here is your solution...

The only money I spent on this was the cost of Harleys small universal brake pedal cover part# 42710-04 and a cut off wheel.

The first step was the easy one, on the left side of the bike remove the front shift peg and both shift levers, turn the front shift lever around and reinstall the levers and shift peg so you end up with this...

Now the semi-difficult part. You will need to remove the stock large rubber brake pedal cover and end up with this...

Size: 13.1 KB

Now that cut off wheel comes into play. You will need to cut here...

Size: 11.7 KB

So you end up with a pedal that looks like this...
Name: Pedal03.jpg
Views: 578
Size: 8.3 KB

Then you add the pedal cover and end up with this...

You do not need to remove the pedal from the bike in order to cut it. I didn't.

And thats it! Now you can strech your legs all the way out to the end of the boards and even hang them off the end! It is soooo much more comfortable.... And cheap!

Mike

P.S. For all of you smart guys out there, You are stuck having to do this modification to your pedal, because the FX softail style brake pedal will not work with floorboards due to its curvature. So dont waste your money..

Wanted to move Floorboards forward. Installed floorboards offset to the normal mounting position. Used galv bolts, loctite and some double sided tape to secure a flat piece of metal. The metal is needed to make the floorboards level when they rest on the brackets. It moved the boards ~1 1/4". Also, scraping rarely happens with the half moon flloor boards and moving them forward.
