Thanks for the comments, guys...here's a pic of the fender with the lights mounted and painted black (to satisfy my curiosity...before final paint much sanding and edging is necessary). A concern I have: my side mount tag holder has a nice bright running light but the brake light is barely noticeable. I was going to use these eyes as turn signals (still want to) but feel like I need to use them as brake lights...anyone know if I can run both a brake light branch off the wiring harness and blinker branch and put a resistor in the brake light wiring to make these led eyes serve both purposes? ( I know I CAN...would it work? lol)
You should be able to run a dual circuit for run/brake or run/turn/brake functionality. Checkout www.radiantz.com for necessary parts. They should also be available from other sources.
Don't bother trying to make those LED's into run/turn/brake lights. They were not designed to operate at two different brightness levels so trying to get them to operate as run anything else isn't going to work very well.
A better plan would be to make them into brake/turns as both functions work independently without the need for two brightness levels.
I tried that with my rear turns and a single brightness LED array and it didn't work out until I used the rewireing instructions to change the HD run/turn/brake module I was using into a brake/turn.
It works much better and friends following tell me that now there is NO doubt when I'm stopping or turning.
Interestingly enough before I did the rewire on the module the turn signals cycled too fast (it needed an equalizer) but after I did it the turn signals cycle at a normal rate.
Heres a mod I just finished. Cut my stock V&S Short Shots flush, had a lenght of 2 1/4" maandrel bent pipe bent up with 100* bends and bought two flappers off of ebay. Measure twice, cut once!! A dash of exhaust wrap, and a spritz of high temp paint...And WHAM...Badassitude! I have a video also for anyone who hasnt seen them in action yet! LOL
