Thought I would post up the finished product of all of my stupid & annoying questions. Haven't fired the new sound system up yet, as I still need to bleed my upper brake line from my ape hanger install, but I'm planning on doing that today.
I figured out the adapter rings yesterday after the helpful posts, but I ended up using only 1 long screw in the longer of the two upper inner fairing bosses. It just didn't seem like I was going to be able to make the longer screw fit in the shorter of those. (one appeared to be slightly shorter to me) I was really more afraid of stripping the head of the screw than anything, even with the correct size screwdriver, the going got really tough the further I went with it. So I backed it out and went with one of the shorter screws that EP sent with the adapters.
I hope that's not a critical mistake. They seemed stable & solidly mounted enough though, I guess I'll find out.
thanks to Philb252 for the deal on the RF, he even sent me the Scott Ezell mounting bracket and that worked quite nicely.
Haha, dxdefied, I think we also have 14" KST mayhem's in common as well. (finishing up the install today/tomorrow)
So coming from stock radio & J&M 7.25" performance series, I'm guessing I'm gonna like what I hear.
I'm so close to finishing everything up, yet it seems so far away....and it's killing me as it's in the 60's here today. Guys are riding their bikes around, ahhhh! I wanna play too!
Lol SBates! I'll admit it certainly has taken me much longer than I anticipated to do this whole project. But, I decided I'd try & start it today so I could make sure that first off, it would actually start, & second, I needed to hear the new amp & speakers.
Well.....drumroll.....it started right up & all my controls worked! And the engine didn't act funny as I gave it some throttle. Woot! (Still need to confirm that my abs light goes off & that I have full power)
Secondly....the amp & speakers KICK. ***! I set the volume & gains while the bike was running as I believe others have said to do to get full power & wow, I am able to finally go well past halfway without distortion! I finally have loud & clear music. Awesome!
Polyfil.....check! (I almost forgot it too!) I haven't put the front fairing on it with the Polyfil yet (I will tomorrow as I'll finally have the clutch cable swapped), but I will agree that the kappas don't have a lot of low end. But, they are still head & shoulders above what I was running before.

I'd say the only bad thing about that set up it won't take long before you want more.. I'm happy with mine but after a week I wanted more.. Now a new head unit is on the horizon.. Nxt will be lowers with pods..I listen to pretty heavy music, when i get a notch above half way the sound quality decreases drastically
Isn't that the way with everything on these bikes though, ha! Always wanting more, whether it's tunes, power, exhaust, comfort, etc. It seems that there's no end.
I listen to mostly rock & some heavy stuff too (FFDP, slipknot, chevelle, Ozzy, Pantera, etc) I used Tool's aenima (sp?) CD to set gains since it tends to have a good range of volume within the same song, it sounded pretty good cranked up, but I'm sure I'll be wanting more eventually.
