Hello all. First post on the forum but I kinda feel like an expert after reading some of the insight from you audio guru's. I am buying a new set-up and have decided to go with the soundstream Pn4.1000d amp, biketronics 7.1 fairing speakers (not the pro series) the biketronics (hat) 6x9 speakers with the hogtunes lids, and an aftermarket sony headunit. I also have a hogtunes tweeterpod. So i have a couple of questions. Anyone using this amp? I have been told I may have some overheating issues with it. Any truth to that? Second any info/tips on how to wire this setup would be greatly appreciated.
By the way I have an 09 streetglide currently with hogtunes speakers, amp, tweeterpod and stock hu.
I put the RZ version in a friends bike with 7.1's in the fairing and it sounds great. I'd set it on AP and set the HPF on the sony to about 80.
The tweeter pod conect to the radio. I have additional tweeters in my lower gauges and they make a difference. However too much power and it's way to bright.
I think gains on RZ are around the 11 o'clock position. Your bike is going to sound awesome. Also no issue of heat or protection after a long day of riding in the S Florida heat.
I have BT speakers paired with a SS 4.520 and it sounds good. I can only imagine that those speakers would hum with the new 4.1000. I'm glad my birthday is coming up!!!!!!!
I bench and audio tested the new version on my bike and was very impressed. see my signature for my speaker. your BT speakers will be happier with the ~140W instead of the ~90W (clean) from the 4.520.
as Haze stated make sure you "cut off" the really low freqs (I would personally go down to 50Hz, not the 80Hz as he stated). if your head unit does not support a HPF option, use the amp HPF.
Gopher - You're gonna love it! No heat issues. The dam thing rocks with the 7.1's!! As HAZE said wire the Tweeter pod to the radio and the other 4 speakers on it's own channel. I purchased the Clone RZ4.3000 and the Soundstream 1000D. Put the soundstream in a friends bike and it sounded so good he wouldn't let me have it back and paid me $50 bucks over what it cost to keep it. (Of course I immediately ordered me another one) lol Bad Azz Amp! He was running the 7.1's and the 6.5 Biketronic speakers by the way.
Well, I did it! I ordered the new SS 4.1000D amp. Hopefully, it will be here soon!!!!! It looks like an SS 4.520 will be in the classified section soon...
Well i ordered everything as well. I am excited to get this stuff installed and rockin. I will post an update after everything is installed. Might have to start a new thread too asking for install help as well. Lol. On a side note I dealt with nick at sonic electronics for the radio as biketronics didn't offer the one I wanted anymore and got a good deal below what they were asking. And as everyone has stated on here before biketronics customer service was outstanding when I placed my order. They gave me an excellent deal as well! Way cheaper than I was expecting. They even offered me the opportunity to purchase the 4180 amp in the future at the discounted package rate. Hopefully the soundstream is everything it says it is and I wont need to take them up on it!
