I'm about to put a new windshield and headlight on my '12 street glide. I wanna put speakers in while I'm up front. My question is what are a few good speaker choices I could go with. I don't wanna put an amp in just yet so I guess I need the best sounding speakers without an amp attached. Thanks for the help everybody, love this forum!
How much do you want to spend? Aftermarket speakers, while an improvement from stock, are going to require an amp to sound good. Just do it now, you will be glad you did. Do you think you will add more speakers later? (bags, lids, lowers?)

I hate to be the guy Kevin. . . But I'm used to it by now.. .LOL Bad news brother. If you are running a stock system changing speakers without an amp is actually going to make your bike sound WORSE. Your 12 street glide has a 2 ohm stock system. Most of the quality speakers for our bikes are 4 ohm speakers with the exception of the infinity 62.11i 2 ohm speakers. Problem is they need an amp to sound good. That said. I'd wait until I could do both. There are some nice inexpensive class D amps to be had if you don't mind losing some of your FM stations. Night and day difference with an amp my friend.
Don't be afraid to open the fairing up, it's not like everything has to be done during the one time you have it off. Hell, I need a zipper on mine by now. And btw, you can do the headlight and windshield without removing the fairing.
Thanks for all the advice. I guess I do need to just wait and buy the amp and speakers together. I would like to not spend over 400 bucks on the speakers and amp. Any suggestions? Thanks again.

on the old HU of the 12s I did notice a difference with Infinity speakers in the front, I put 6.5s with the adapters you can buy. NOT A GREAT improvement, but it was some,, however the HK in the older bikes didn't have great amplifiers in them, they clipped the highs when wide open volume, ,, you really want an amp to sound the best.....
just make sure you put in 6.5 speakers in. adapter rings are 20 - 25 $. my first set up was polk mm651's with a pbr300x2 amp. was way better than stock. however the trend seems to be the kappa speakers and the b2 amp. i never heard it in person but thats all the rave these days. and its not $$$
