Do I need a second amp to power some hertz 6x9 speakers in my saddlebag lids? I have a diamond micro4 powering 4 hertz hcx 165 6.5" speakers now.
If I do add a second amp whats the recommended power/ground wire running to the battery?
Im an ebay junkie. Thats where I found this d-block by Stinger for $20. Houses 2 lines for power and 2 for ground.
As far as 2 amps go, you'll have more sound. You didn't state how you have it wired, so I'm assuming you are wired 1 speaker per channel?
You could run the fronts in parallel and dedicate the rear to the 6x9s. But i just don't think that it's enough power. Personally, I would look at something with more *** than the micro4. 80x4 just isn't enough at 80mph. 150 X4 would be better. Imho.

4 ohm is good! When you run your 4 ohm speakers in parallel you essentially reduce your resistance down to two ohms. Parallel wiring cuts your resistance in half. If you had 8 ohm speakers for example and ran them in parallel they would be running at 4 ohms.
As long as your amp is 2 and 4 ohm compatible you can run your speakers down to two ohms. Some of the more expensive amps even go down to 1 ohm. The Diamond amp IS two and four ohm compatible so you're golden!

If I understand correctly the 4 speakers to the front (all 4 ohm) will be cut down to 2 ohm. The lid speakers are 4 ohm also. So am I good to run 2 and 4 ohm at the same time?
