Has any one tried one of the Sound Stream single din flip out hu's ? The reason I ask is for the price and options some of the models look ok. I know that the guy who use there amp's all agree for the money they are great.
Just got my 2014 and 2015 tax return checks and now have some extra cash to put into building a system for my 2010 ultra limited. What do you guys think. For less than 300 bucks I can get a flip up screen maybe even a gps one and if something happens I'm not out a ton of cash as say a Pioneer or Alpine.
What I realy would like is a hu that has Bluetooth, multiple usb ports , control over my Iphone and spotify. Would like handle bar controls to be able to scroll thru Iphone for play list ect. I dont really carry cd's so even just a media player will work. Is a Sound Stream worth a try or just stick with a proven hu and be done ?
Have not tried one but I'm thinking I remember seeing a waterproof one. If u can track that sucker down and it still is in your price wheelhouse then what the hell, give it a go.

Can't help you on the head unit but man, this is October 2016 and you just received your tax overpayment checks from 2 years ago? Is that the way they do it up there? You give them too much money to begin with and then they make you wait up to 2 years to give it back?

Yes we give WAY too much money. But it was my fault the tax returns are coming late
I spoke with Crutchfield when checking on one for a friend. They said they did not have a interface that would work with Harley handlebar controls. I'm not sure if they actually tried it or were just reading a manufacturers list. They said the same thing about the Jensen Nav single DIN unit. So he went with the Clarion they have. Cost a bit more but he is happy with it.
many many years ago, the SoundStream amps would fail repeatedly, even after you sent them back for repair.
that may not SEEM like a big problem, but after you build/integrate/cut/trim fit all those wires and mounts, and then you have to trash a $800 amp and completely rebuild your system, it IS a hassle.
I had a huge 5 channel in my car, and it only lasted a year.
so for me, they got me once...won't get me again. but that was early 2000's, so YMMV.
