Since early August I started having a problem where the infotainment audio would stop. (I have a 2014 Ultra Limited.) Nothing from the flash drive, AM/FM/XM radio or nav system. I would have to stop, turn off the ignition, restart the bike and the audio would return. Initially this would occur every so often, up to the point where it now happens about every other day. In the past several days I noticed that the sound from the front right speaker and back left speaker was gone.
I took the bike into the dealership yesterday, and fortunately the entire audio failed while enroute so I was able to show the service manager the audio problem along with the two inoperative speakers. About two years ago I updated the system to the Boom amp and speakers. I was very happy with the sound, until this started happening.
Unfortunately I found that the new amp/speakers are not covered by the extended warranty, should that turn out to be the problem. The service department had previously reloaded the newest software and had completed a factory reset and neither did anything to correct the problem. The tech thinks the problem might be with the infotainment center itself, which if that is true, it will be covered by the warranty. Hopefully I will hear something today.
Has anyone had any similar problem, and if so, what was the solution?
Thanks.
Had same problem seamed to happen more when would start bike with out waiting to hit accept button , mine is long since removed. And with new flash don't have to hit accept any more so sorry no help.
I had similar issues,I was able to get to the dealer so they would see it. But the wheels turned when I called HD directly, I have to mention I asked them how many custom auto builders were buying their $1500 radios to install in new builds? Anyway they got off the phone with me and called the local HD dealer. NC harley was on the phone to me making an appointment. Installed a new radio, well maybe a refurb I don't know for sure but at least it works.
I am running the current software version.
I heard back from the dealer service yesterday that I had three problems. The Boom amplifier was bad on the right side. They found that the cabling for the two back speakers was switched (two connectors cross connected) so what we initially thought was a bad left rear speaker was actually bad on the right. Also, one of the Boom speakers was bad as well. So, problem solved and it looks like the warranty will pay for all but the one bad speaker. Not bad.
