https://www.mtx.com/harley-davidson-...98-2013-models had anyone used this kit, should I return and keep searching for better? Budget is $1000, self install on a 2010 ultra classic with batwing. I'm a road captain and use the factory cb often so I do not wish to replace my HU. I used to install car audio prior to 96 so not a complete noob, just when it comes to bikes I have no audio experience. Not looking for a ton of bass but want well rounded premium sound at little louder than stock system with nice lower bass to round out the sound. Any suggestions?
Edit:OK I was able to cancel the AMP/speaker order from Amazon, left msg with MTX about canceling the order for the harness, though it has the plugs to connect to the factory harness so not sure if I want to cancel that one.
Looking to do this install Soon as I can get the materials.

I have no issues with removing the cover and using a tweaker as long as there is documentation as to what pots to adjust to bring my levels in where they need to be I am an Instrument and Control Tech by trade. Good Electrical knowledge.

I would build ur system around the DD AW6.5 and AT28 it BT30 tweets in the fairing holes. With the remaining cash go for a solid 4 channel amp. Lastly get some solid yet durable TP speaks like the AD CX62 2100s. You should be able to get on hell of a system with your budget!!!
Simple tuning, so based on ur experience u can do this in your sleep.
More I dig and refresh on....the more I want to save and buy bigger. Holding off on audio for now and will buy with a larger budget. Ill keep going researching and paying attention to people's builds looking for what is just right for me! Thanks Tailwind for your time to respond to my post.

That is a great way to do it. But also reach out to Alex at Bagger Audio Lab, you might be surprised how much you can get for the $1000 you already have set aside. I would consider starting with an Arc 600.4, AW's with BT30's. This would get you a great front stage which would be way better than what you currently are running with front and rears. I would consider just cutting the rear stage out until money frees up and you can add in later.
Without running all the numbers for the above plus the LL's and other items I would guess you would be in about $11-1200 for all this and then you can add the rear stage speakers when money allows.
