Power to Amp
I recently removed my Hog Tunes amp because it died. It was installed by the previous owner and I didn't realize that it had a wire harness that was routed all the way back to the battery. Question is, do all amps require a direct connection to the battery or can they be powered up from a connection to the head unit? May be a bone head question but most all amps I've seen for sale make no mention of a wire harness. Thanks in advance.

I was looking at the Aquatic AV Shockwave only because I have the Aquatic head unit and figured they'd be a good match.

I would go with the Cerwin Vega for less money and is also a proven amp here. The specs are almost identical between the two amps but I wouldn't choose an Aquatic amp just because I have an Aquatic amp. Most any HU and amp will work fine together. Always make amp choice for the speakers not the HU. But if that amp is one you'd like to try I see nothing wrong with it but the price and it's basically unknown.

But to answer your original question you'll need around 6ft of 8ga wire for power and another 6ft of 8ga for ground. You can ground directly to the battery or to the grounding post in front of the battery. You will also need an inline fuse holder with a 40a fuse on the battery end of the power wire.
