It's a very damn good speaker!!!! I just don't care for it as a stand alone sound quality speaker. They have to be well supplemented/complimented imho.

Tinkering with some options that might bridge the gap between the AWs and PAs. This shix never ends!!!!

First of all as mentioned by BAL the area that is going to hold you back on your upgrade is going to be the stock head unit.

You can have a $ .10 head unit and $1000 system after the head unit and it is still going to sound like the $ .10 head unit just amplified.

The quality of input (headunit) you put in to an amplified system is the quality you will get coming out of your speakers as long as they are good quality speaker and set up correctly.

As for your question of speakers you are limited to a smaller choice of speakers that will be drop in for your rear pods as most of the PA speakers have a larger magnet and a deeper mounting.

You were asking about the MMATS speakers I myself like the the tonal quality, punch and over all volume of them. I am running 4 of the MMATS 601s. 2 in the fairing paired up with a set of B3 horn tweeters and 2 in my tour pack pods paired up with T2 tweeters powered by a hertz HDP4 amp on my 14 limited.

Your best bet would be to go to a bike night or some other gathering and listen to some different systems to see what your ears like as everyone hears differently.

Yes they are!!!! Those are the only speakers I've heard that could get me to re-route my cooling bottle. I'm hoping to find a way to get around all that work though.

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I am leaning to the Mmats but the PRV's have me rethinking again...

What horns are you guys putting with the PRV's?

And not ruled out a new HU probably the Sony 171 I forget the letter designator but yall know the one I am talking about.

As far as bike nights where I live not happening. We have em but just not a bike show or audio sound off like may be happening in other places. Ours is more of reason to gather and drink something COLD.

Depends on the set up but we primarily use DD Audio or MMats horns.

Ok, so I have another question.

What does the group think about the Diamond Audio marine grade speakers? I heard a FB post and you can hear them from a 1/4 mile away.

And with that do you run more marine grade speakers or just not worry about and go with a quality speaker like discussed? And would you spray them with Scotchguard?

Sorry to keep draggin this on just wading through the options.

Thanks

I have not been impressed with any Diamond Audio speakers. On pro audio (paper cone) speakers we treat them directly with Never Wet. For a coaxial water resistant speaker I like the AD Design CX62.

Not sure which diamonds you're talking about, but I have heard the Diamond 8 and thought it sounded very good. As far as any coaxials from diamond, I can't say either way.

The AD CX62 that alex mentioned are a great speaker and sound very good.
