So I’m looking to upgrade the head unit on my 09 SG to something with bluetooth. Thought while I was in there I would upgrade speakers as well. Looking for suggestions for speaker and maybe add an amp options that all fit in batwing? Looks like I can go up to 6-1/2” speakers with adapters. What brand give the fullest sound? Will a high powrr head unit suffice or do I need an amp?

You will only get marginal gains without using an amp at best. You can add a decent amp for as little as $100-150. The guys here will be able to put a fairing only budget setup for you no problem. Sony and Kenwood seem to be the radios to go with

Make sure you buy for future, buy 4 channel amp event you're only using 2 speakers. A handlebar control system is a must Biketronics seems to be the best. Check out the items on the forum here for sale, can save you a few bucks. Good luck!
How deep is your wallet? For alot of people starting out that seems to be a deciding factor..you don't want to spend xxx on a speaker/amp combo untilll u hear a set up that costs xxx

Anytime you open the fairing and change the HU. New speakers and an amp should be part of the process. Does you no good to change out the head unit without changing the speakers. Does you no good to change the speakers without adding an amp. It's a package deal. Contact my bud Haze. Alex@baggeraudiolab.com he's got the perfect two speaker system for your 09 SG on sale right now. Just told me about it today!! I'd jump on it in a heartbeat if I were in need of a two speaker system! The price is right and it sounds fantastic!!
Figured it best to cover my bases for now and future and don’t realky have a set budget. Just want something that sounds decent at speeds with some low end to it I know it won’t be anything cray with just the fronts. That being said I wanted to be able to order it all up thru Crutchfield as I get 1 year with zero interest. Not sure how much room I have in the fairing for the amonor what kind of mounting options.
Contact Alex at Bagger Audio Labs. He'll set you up. Figure out your budget. One of two things will happen. You will be happen with the first set up or you will catch the bug and it will be a never ending chase for more. Good luck on your quest.
