Hey folks, there's a lot of dang good information in these threads but my head's about to explode and a lot of trend changes since some of the older threads. I'm looking for some good speaks for fairing only. I've been running J&M 7.5 off the deck without amp but it's time for an upgrade. Thought about going pro audio but don't plan on adding more speaks on bike or horns so probably leaning coax unless there's something I'm missing. One option was pro audio, maybe mmats, then reuse the J&M speaker grill or another grill mount tweeter. Local dealer has DD but concerned me he hadn't heard of the AW but does have VO. Or just keep the J&M performance series. Just haven't been happy with them. I have amp already that was a gift. Fairing is torn apart for paint and going back together soon.
What am I looking for? Clearest sound possible over my Thunderheader while riding 70+ without taking space in my bags or horns on my dash for around 300 bucks or so. Don't really care too much about parking lot sound. I listen to about everything except metal.
Here's my setup so far on my 07 FLHX
Deck- JVC kd-r97mbs
amp- NVX MVPA4 (175 X 2 bridged 4 ohm)
speaks- nothing yet
Thanks T, gonna check out options for mounting the tweet. I'm starting to lean this direction after all this reading. Seems it's closest to bridging that gap and I have no intentions to add any lids or lowers anytime soon. Definitely didn't want horns in my face. Full range is prob the way to go for me
DIdnt at first lowers made a difference.....It fricken does, ask the guys behind me....I have 6.5's in the lowers and they rock as well as the 7.1's in the fairing. Good luck and congrats.

The DD AW6.5s with the DD AT 28 tweets is a solid two speaker setup for sure
I bought the Db drive WDX6MOTO from Sporx and delivered in 24 hours. My fairing is torn a apart getting painted so will be a little while before they're in. Didn't expect them that quick!.To be honest they were well under what I wanted to spend and haven't seen any terrible reviews as of yet. Seems like a cool concept if it works...a mid range pa style with a tweeter. If I made a bad call it's not a big deal and all part of the fun. I have a DD dealer right down the road if this doesn't work out. I can tell you I started with J&M performance with no amp so my only direction is up
