Default Tweaking the completed system

Well with help from several folks here I've gotten all six speakers cranking now. I have a SS PN4.1000D pushing WDX Motos in the fairing on the front channel. I have the crossover set to flat and the gain down around 10 o'clock which seems to provide plenty of volume without distortion.

On the rear channel I have AD Designs CX621s in the lower fairings paralleled with another identical pair in the rear pods. I have the gain set a little above 11 o'clock and the crossover set to high pass. To set the crossover point I ran it all the way high and dialed it down until I just heard a little bit of bass creep in then left it at that.

I have the bass and treble on the stock HK head unit (with low level outputs installed by Iron Cross Audio) set two clicks above center. This seems to go louder than I would normally play it at highway speed without distortion.

Does this seem about right or do any of y'all know of any changes I should experiment with?

Thanks again for all the help. It has been a lot of work but the sound is far an above anything that came from the factory.

As long as it sounds good to your ears it's right. Gains are about right for that setup. You do have the bike running during final tweaking right???

I'm gonna tinker with the Motos a bit this weekend on a buds bike but my experience with the Motos and EPC6K was to run HP and cross them about 85-90. This will allow u to lean into the gains a bit more without distortion. Those can be pretty solid on the bass if u let them be but too much bass = distortion

I did accidentally once when the volume button on the left grip stuck in the up position. Made me glad I was conservative on the gain settings.

Remember the bike produces more amperage when started and if you have the gains maxed while on battery you might cause some expensive issues when on the motor. That's why final tweets are done while the engine is running.

Want to hear more on how those WDX motos are. I’m considering them for my fairing. Then would need to figure what to pair them with for lowers.

I think the Motos seem to compliment the AD Designs in the lowers pretty good (that combination seems to have been used a lot in the past and was recommended to me by SBates I believe). The Motos have some hard hitting bass and the ADs are clean and clear on the mids and highs. I seemed to have discovered though that the current design of the AD CX621 seems to have a little fatter basket that will not drop down into the lowers without opening them up a little with a Dremel tool. Once I did that though they dropped in and fit with the Chinese CVO grill copies I bought ($18 shipped).

What works best for you though may depend upon the amp you choose. They recommended the SoundStream PN4.1000d to me because I wanted to run six speakers without running low on wattage. I like that the only cargo space I had to give up was the glove boxes in the lowers (I did actually used them).
