Default Fixing Boom 2 or what?

Yea, another audio post.... current set up is a 2017 RGS, with Boom 2 amp and speakers in the fairing (yeah... I know). I’m not happy with it, I want louder/clearer...Harley want $1600 to add another amp and speakers in my lowers to “sound better”. Im thinking I can do better for the same price or cheaper.... even considering changing the head unit to an aftermarket as well. Local sound shop wants $1600 for 2 pairs of hertz, amp and install.... thoughts?

Don't to the Boom upgrade and don't pull the HU.
You can get a smoking system for well under that number if u don't mind putting a little sweat equity into it.
We will get ur ship to shore even if ur currently not comfortable taking that fairing off. That exactly where we all started.

Hit up a few of these Rushmore threads for some general info and parts list to include needing a BT355 Line Leveler to get u rolling.

The big question is are u going to stay with only 2 speakers or is there a chance the u will add lids, lowers or tour pack someday. Identify the finish line before u start this adventure so u don't have to change course and waste resources.

What type if tunes u listen to?

Realistically how much are u comfortable spending? The will drive most of the suggestions u will get.

I was really thinking about adding speakers to my lowers and then have a 4 speaker system in the end, but I thought that was what I "needed" to do to get what I'm looking for. If I can get good results with just 2, cool....

Tunes are: Hollywood Undead, Five Finger Death Punch, nonpoint, Shinedown, mostly heavier stuff but not screaming....

Spending wise, hard question... $1600 would of got me boom 2 lowers, so that is the max, I would be ecstatic at no more then 1k.

Yeah, the line leveler does a couple things but the more significant things are that it has connectors that allow u to pug right into the HD stuff but also flattens out a really crappy Boom tune that is designed for the Boom Speaks.

Ur gonna need amp wiring kit for power and ground, a $10 harness from HD for the amp remote turn on so the amp is only on when the acc is on, the BT355 Line leveler (possibly 2), a few other odds and ends like connectors, RCAs, etc. From there it dinging the perfect amp and speaker combo.

Ur plan for Lowers is a damn good one!!! Great results from a fairing and lower combo.

And I think u can beat $1k all day long brother. A solid 4 channel amp that pushes 150ish Watts x 4 @ 4 ohm is kind of a target. The Arc 600.4 is solid for a 4 speak setup and should fit the RGS fairing without much effort.

Not sure if the dB Moto speakers fit the RG speaker pods but those suckers would work very well with the tunes u like. When u nail down the fairing a bit then u can set up a plan for complimenting Speaks for the lowers.

Take ur time brother and start writing some of this stuff down so u can track costs and also some pro cons on the various products that are currently being discussed by the boys and gals. Lots of info to digest!!!!

And keep an eye on the Forum audio classifieds!!!!
