I need help with stereo upgrade. Ive got a 2017 ultra limited low.
Im looking to upgrade the stereo. Id like to keep the HD head. Ive looked at boom stage 2 but Im not getting the answers that I like.
90 percent of the time I ride with the tour pack off. Id like to upgrade the fairing speakers, add lowers & upgrade the tour pack. I, told that boom 2 cant handle this and the bike will throw codes when I take off the tour pack.
What at solutions do you recommend? My last bike was a 2015 CVO street glide that had 4 speakers and it sounded much better than my 2017 so Im looking for something like that.
Thanks Juice, Ive read some on Boom audio II and I understand the price & problems. I’m looking for help with what else is out there that would accomplish what I’m looking for. HogTunes, JM Rockers, Cycle Sounds, etc. What other after market companies should I review?
The biketronics break out harness kit ( comes with 2 line levelers), makes life easy. Do yo already have the detachable TP harness in play?
A good 6 channel amp or you can have a 4 channel amp under the hood and a 2 channel set up in the TP that will be hooked up while attached.
Lot of ways to skin this Cat but, stay away from the kits like J&M, Soundz and hogtunes. There is way more to be had for less money than they sell those kits for.
Will you be installing this?
How much are you looking to spend on equipment?
Are you versed in Audio (terms, understanding equipment, know how this works)?
I do have the detachable tour pack. I would prefer to have someone else do the install. My tech level at installing stereo equipment was from cars 30 years ago. Now I just want to enjoy some music and ride.
If I can find a list of equipment that others use/like that will be put on the starting path. Every time I talk with the HD dealer, they only install HD equipment and it doesn’t sound like they are sold on Boom audio II.
I am not familiar with any shops in UTAH. There might be a couple of audio heads on here to help you out. Give it a little bit ,more folks will chime in. Maybe even someone in your area.
Im in northern Utah. Ive looked on google and Ive not found many shops that do audio for bikes that will work with the HD head unit.
I would hit them up, some audio shops maybe really good Car audio, and some shops know very little about Bike audio. Call them and see what they come up with. Come back here with question prior to any commitment.
Have you checked out Sound Warehouse? I suspect that even if a shop doesn't know bike audio they are capable of connecting up components correctly. Personally I can't wait until I finish paying off this bike so I can completely rip the Boom equipment out. I have 4 Boom amps and 8 boom speakers...yeah...I went all the way. .
