Looking for some assistance. I pulled the trigger on BF on the following:
Stinger 700.4 Amp
Stinger SVTK4681 wiring kit
2 MMATS 601cx
RF TMS69BL14 Lid kit
Am I missing anything? There is a local shop that can do the RF flash. Do I get the flash before or after install? I’m only trying to get a good sound at 80mph with a FF helmet, not win any SPL comps, so don’t see the need for DSP. The “instructions” included with the amp and wiring kit are subpar at best. I’ve done a DIY setup on an RK before, butt before I take the bike apart, want to make sure I’m squared away to complete it without multiple trips to the store for required items. TIA
The mmats speakers will require two different size female spade connectors. One is a .250 and the other is smaller. I can't remember the size off hand.
I assume you're doing this on a Rushmore since you're talking about the Rockford flash. I would go to HD and get the fairing power extension harness. It allows you to tap into a factory plug for power. Just splice your remote wire to amp into one of the purple wires on this. It's a cleaner job rather than tapping into cig lighter.
I think the amp kit has everything you need to directly plug your factory harness connections that go to front speakers and send that signal directly to amp.
My only concern is being able to hear the lids at speed with a full face. Maybe you will. Maybe you won't.
You'll also need some speaker wire. 14-16 gauge is sufficient. Amazon has rolls of it cheap.
Last thing is a waterproof connector to go to bags. Unsure if any of kits you bought have something. Molex, Deutsch, will allow you to disconnect wires to bag for maintenance and cleaning and provide weather protection.
The RF lid kit comes with decent wiring to get back to the bag. The grommets it uses also allow for the bag to be removed fairly easily. I'm not sure if that's what Andy was talking about, but I thought it's worth clarifying.
You guys are awesome!! This is all going on a 2019 RG Special. I have a roll of 16g speaker wire. Lids are more for the wife. I had lids only on my RK and could hear them at 70mph, but with a half helmet. So I’m sure they will suffice for the wife. And I do go without a helmet when legally acceptable. I believe I have a box full of female connectors (12-20g) for the MMATS. I’ll swing by my local dealer and inquire about the expansion connector. MMATS should be here today. Just waiting on Fathead Cycles to ship the RF kit. Thanks again for all the help. What did people do before the inter webs?
Get flash before install would be better. But if you get it after, don't use radio until you get it flashed.
I assume the radio will work after flash, just be quieter and not great quality until I get new equipment installed, but won’t damage anything. Have time on Friday to get it flashed but won’t get around to install until weekend.
