A buddy of mine got a set of the RF rear bag speaker kit, Rockford Fosgate TMS69, He has a 2017 SG with the Boom 2 front speakers and amp. My question is, will the RF speakers work with his amp? I know RF requires a flash for the stock radio, with their front speaker and amp kit. Had to do it to my full kit, but I don't know if the rear speakers would still need a flash to work. I don't want to tell him wrong, but if they will be fine, I will help him install them. Thanks.

Madmax,, if I am reading this right, your buddy want to add a Rf rear lid kit to a stock boom 2 front only setup. If that is indeed the case he wont have power with the1 boom amp he has up front. The boom amps are designed to run 2 ohm speakers and all boom set ups with 4 or 6 speakers (fairing, lowers and lids) all have 2 boom amps to run them (cvo's). The tms69's are 4 ohm and need more power than the boom amp can provide. I tried a set of tms69's from a cvo setup using a 5x7 to 6x9 adaptors and connector adaptors to wire those 6x9's and they lacked enough power from the cvo rear amp to sound like they should. They worked ok while sitting still but got lost at any speed.
As bad as it sounds, the best scenario would be to just get rid of the boom setup completely and go aftermarket. amp and speakers. The other scenario would be to get a rear boom amp and go with the tms 57's that are a direct replacement for boom rear speakers but even then you will loose the fulness 6x9 can give and will need a set of HD lids not being able to use the rf lid kit. HD has designed that boom so that it cant be modified with aftermarket equipment.
What about some aftermarket 2ohm speakers to replace the RF speakers like some infinity kappa 6x9's? Maybe they're not any good? I had the 62ix 6.5's for a while and they sound pretty good and get fairly loud.

Im not sure about the new kappa 6x9's but do know the older ones were not constructed well as the baskets would not stand up to the task and broke. I also believe that the 1 front boom amp wont be enough to power all 4 speakers.
