Default Tuning question? SD 1200.4d

Tuning question! I just installed a Soundigital 1200.4d evo amp. I’ve got a Sony 7000, Biketronics 6.5s in the fairing and Polk 6x9 mm692s in my lids. I know I should use HP for my crossover if I was using the stock HU. But if I use the full option, will the Sony HU be enough to adjust the sound quality? If so what should I have the Sony HP set to, 80, 100, 120 Hz? And would the LP be set at 0 or is better to have it turned up some also? And what’s a decent equalizer setting. Here’s what I’ve got from just messing around. So if you have a suggested EQ setting for the Sony 7000 post pics of you could. I have the DSO set to low. Extra bass set to 2 or would 1 be better? Please note, I have no idea what I’m listening for. But it sounds pretty decent the way I have it set up. I want some bass, but I know I’m limited because of the speakers I have. But I want a nice clean quality sound that I can play loud when doing freeway speeds. Also, does the gain turn dial effect the amp when it set to full?? Or should I turn it to HP on the amp and adjust the gain for all 4 channels. If I do this, should i turn off the adjustments in the 7000? I took out a biketronics 2180 amp that comes pre-adjusted and ran the lid speakers parallel. So far I’m more then pleased with the difference that the SD amp provides. I know the 4 channel amp makes a big difference. But never having to tune an amp has left me looking for help. Thnx for any help or opinions that can be offered.

First off I'd turn the DSO and extra bass off. Use the HP crossovers in the amp and set the Sony EQ to Flat. You shouldn't go past 43 on the volume for the Sony to keep distortion from creeping in. Once you get it set up and sounding good that way you can play with the Sony EQ if you want to fine tune your sound but it probably won't be necessary.

. Thnx, so just turn the Sony back to 0 for the most part all the way across for now? And I can still adjust the Sony equalizer to fine tune even if I’m using HP on the amp.

yes, you won't need to use the HP on the Sony at all the amp will handle that. Just use to EQ to fine tune if you like.

I don't think the SD 1200.4 has adjustable xovers. You might want to use the Sony xovers for at least some adjustment.

it only has the adjustment to go from lp, hp, or all and a gain turn dial. Is that enough to make adjustments?b But like boosted said. Set Sony to 0 and set amp to hp. Then adjust the gain. And then use the equalizer to make further adjustments... or should I leave on full and take my equalizer settings down?

Yes that is called a "fixed" xover the Sony has at least a couple choices for frequency.

That amp has a built in non adjustable 80Hz LP/HP filter on if I remember correctly a 12db slope. I would try that out with about 150W to each speaker and see how it sounds. Just be careful with how much power you give those MM692's. They were known for over heating so much that they would melt the crossovers on the back and the magnet getting hot enough to burn you.
