Default Sound system upgrade. RF stage 3?

Hi looking for some advice. I have a 2019 RGS. I am looking to upgrade the sound system. Upgrading fairing speakers and adding speakers in the lids. I am looking at the RF stage 3. I am not knowledgeable enough on bike systems to build my own so I am looking for a package that sounds good and that I can install myself complete with required harnesses. My budget is around 1500 or a little more if necessary. Any thoughts on available packages that sound good. Many opinions read that the RF package is too $$ for what you get. Thanks for suggestions.

That's going to be true for any "package" deal. All too often the packages are sub par speakers and amps with a premium price tag.

If you can do a package install, there's no reason you cant do a full custom system Even with being "plug and play" you still have to run power and ground wires.

For 1500 bucks, you could have a system that would be much louder and better SQ than rf or other package deals.

An SD 1200.4 amp with GZ 6.5spl speakers in the fairing, a boss speaker lid kit to cut your stock lids, then replace those crappy 6x9 speakers with some mmats 690cx or maybe some gz 7x10s.

When it comes to flashing the head unit would you suggest going to a harley dealer or buying an after market tuner?

Teedoff has suggested a solid setup that will blow away the RF setup and won’t break the bank. As far as flashing goes, I would find a local audio dealer that can flash your head unit and get that done. Cheaper than buying a single use flash tool and you will be money ahead.

I think I paid 50 bucks at a local HD dealership to have my HU flashed last year. Some dealers are doing them now, and I would suspect most if not all in the near future will have the RF and or techno research tool to flash them since HD and RF has partnered up now.

The RF flash is a good one and will retain fade if you want that. The 8/2 flash is a flatter signal and the one I got.

Very limited where I am in Canada. One stereo place that does not specialize in bike sound systems and the harley shop that only sells the RF so I’m kind of putting my faith in what I have read here and from the suggestions being made as it’s clear there is a lot of experience on this site. Do the components you are suggesting come with everything I need for a complete install if not is there a shop you can recommend in the US that I can order what I need. I’m willing to try the components that were recommended to me.

Aggressive Audio on Facebook is the best! Just not sure how shipping to CAN would work or if he's able to offer than. But I'd check him out first.

The only other stuff you'd need is a metra amp wiring kit:

amp kit amp kit

I think most guys recommend running new better quality speaker wire

speaker wire speaker wire

Then some speaker ends and battery terminal ends for the amp kit. You can pick those up at any auto parts store or walmart along with some shrink tubing and butt connectors.

You'll also need a pac sni-35 to convert the low lever speaker wires to RCA's.

pac sni-35 pac sni-35

And of course some RCA cables.

RCA's RCA's

Thanks Teedoff65, I will check them out. I have a US shipping address to get it to then broker it from there so should be good on the shipping end. Thanks for your help. Much appreciated. Hopefully next post is with it all in and running. Cheers!
