hooking up a new sony head unit, 4 speakers, and a SD EVOX amp. someone mentioned i should get the Rockford Fosgate digital sound processor as well. with an aftermarket head unit, is there still a need for this? i was under the impression its mainly for if you have the stock harley unit that has been flashed.
They're a good tool to have on your system, especially with the stock HU, and aftermarket as well. If all of your speakers are coax and you're not pushing a lot of wattage to them it's not really necessary.

i have the rockford fosgate 6x9 lid kit, and 2 diamond audio 6.5s in the front. the SD evo amp is jsut a 300 x 2. 300 to the front speakers and 300 to the RF's in the lids. that's going to be about it. Not sure if can justify spending the 300 bucks on the tool. Wouldnt the Sony head unit assist with the EQ portion of bass etc? or would the DSP get more if a finer tune and assist better in leveling out bass/tre etc for peak wattage.

What exact SD amp are you running?
Yes you can adjust EQ on the Sony, BUT that means same EQ for all 4 speakers. DSP will be able to EQ them differently. I would suggest installing it, tune it appropriately (gain and x-overs) and see how you like it. Easy enough to add a DSP later.

ahhh, that is good to know. i have the EVOX 800.4 4 ohm amp. i will also add that i have two tour pack speakers that im NOT going to hook up to the amp. those will be direct connected to the head unit itself. pretty much how they are now, but instead of the stock head unit its going to be the sony 7000. the reason for this is that i ride a lot without the wife and i dont always have the tour pak on the bike. the dealer put a speaker disconect under the seat for the speakers that i plug in and out when i add/remove the tour pack.
