Long time lurker first time poster. Ive been poring over the threads and heres my situation. I want to upgrade my audio. Currently running hog tunes off stock head unit, and well it sucks. I have purchased a Cerwin Vega B54 because originally was gonna do bag lid 6x9s too. After all the research I think Im leaning toward bridging the amp and running two high power 6.5s in the fairing. Amp should make 300 rms per speaker at 4ohms that way. Anyway, Im looking for a set of 6.5s under $300 (preferably $250) that can handle some power and put out some mid range and bass, not just loud *** ear bleeding highs. Any suggestions would help. Currently considering Diamond MSPro65, Cicada CX65s, wdx6motos, biketronics. Please help me pick a good set of speakers for my amp. Im overwhelmed. Oh and Ill be running stock headunit (basic) with the latest Rockford Fosgate flash.
You'll be hard pressed to find speakers to meet your criteria at that price range. GZ's fit that bill perfectly, but with recent QA issues, I'd be hesitant to buy a pair. Mmats would also get you loud with pretty good SQ and some bit of warmth, but they dont need 300w. And you dont need 300 watts necessarily to get loud speakers. lol You could get them sounding good with much less with just 100 to 125 watts each. That might negate your amp though. If you could return that CV and get the stinger, that would get you around 125 watts each channel and leave two channels open for later upgrades within reason. I ran this amp and mmats setup along with the mmats 6x9 in the lids for 2 years. Sounded great!

Sorry, but your not going to find a "high powered, 300w, with midrange and bass" 6.5" for under $300. Now if you want to find a loud, clear speaker with some punch, then I would suggest mmats (which is the only one under $300), CX65's, DB moto CD's, Euphoria EX6NCX. You can take a gamble with the GZ's, if you can find a set.

This all day. DB Moto is good option, made by same parent co as Euphoria. I was considering the GZs but too many issues of late. I know for a fact Carlos @ NVS really likes the DB Moto 6 CD and recommends them highly.

I haven't tried the DB Moto 6 CD yet, but if is anything like the DB G2's, I wouldn't use them with just a factory HU and no means of tuning them. If there was a HU with a built in EQ, or a DSP involved, then that's a different story.
Limited tuning could quickly become an issue with some speaker choices.
In Carlos's case, he always recommends a DSP on every build. After adding a DSP to my bike last year, I'm beginning to understand why.

Carlos and I have been communicating on FBook regarding speaker thoughts etc and my planned setup which is final for rider, and yes DSP is crucial and he will not let bike leave without one.
Thanks for the info on the DSP guys. Unfortunately I wont have the budget to integrate one. But Im also not looking for competition sound (obviously lol). Im hoping to find a speaker that isnt too bright and can handle some pretty good power. I cant give up bag space and its gonna be a long time before I have a tour pack to mount speakers in. Just trying to find speakers that wont get harsh or shrill sounding.
