Default Another Faring speakers upgrade Question

So to keep it short, I have a 2014 Street Glide Special, its stock, so just the two speakers in the faring, No Amp.
I started a post in the wrong section BUT that led me here.

WAS wanting to replace the "Speakers ONLY" like a thousand others out there BUT, I hear by all that, THAT is just short of useless

SO after quite a bit of research....

I think I am about set on: ( I see these on Amazon and\or eBay for about the pricing I am putting in...) but the pricing is secondary except that THIS is even more then I wanted to pay
Stinger SPX350X2 Amp $250
1st choice = Ground Zero 6.5" Coax GZCF 6.5SPL (yellow basket) (a Pair) OR 2nd choice = MMats (a Pair) PA601cx 6.5” Full-range Coaxial Loudspeaker lets call this about $300 for one or the other
Stinger SVTK4681 Wiring Kit for $ 125
$675 to $700 total

So the Questions:
Is the above ALL I need for the install or, what else?
What modifications should I expect to have to do as far as mounting these? or,
Will they just fit with no modification or manufacturing or buying?

Thanks!

Given that it’s stock you’ll need to start with a radio flash to flatten the eq curve or any money you put into the upgrades will be wasted…

as far as the speakers go you will need to modify the pods slightly to accommodate the size of the yellow baskets… if memory serves me correctly the mmats will slip right in…

for wiring to the amp you’re either going to need a line out converter unless you plan on splicing into your factory harness which I strongly recommend against… or you can purchase a harness that plugs directly into the back of your head unit making it a much cleaner install…

one thing to consider with all wiring kits is to make sure both the rca and speaker wires are oxygen free copper… also be sure you have a means of remote connection to turn the amp on as stock radio harnesses do not have one… if you’re installing in the fairing you can tap into the accessory port that is built into the Harley harness… there is a pigtail that Harley sells o plug right in…

circling back to the speakers for a second the gzyb require I much smaller terminal connection than what’s connected to the stock speakers so if you don’t replace them I strongly suggest soldering them because they will eventually vibrate loose…

So for the flash, I think I have to tell them I am installing an amp?

The Speakers: Found a very good video for the pod mod for the Ground Zero speakers and he goes over a few other, I will share that for any others that might need it
I have a soldering station :-)

The amp install: The Kit from Stinger, I think\hope has all wiring and OEM connectors in it and is oxygen free copper.

It is described on the web site as follows

HARLEY-DAVIDSON 2/4 CHANNEL UNIVERSAL AMPLIFIER WIRING KIT SKU: SVTK4681
Fits 1998-Present Harley Davidson Touring Motorcycles
it contains bla, bla, bla.. and
"Includes OEM connections for interfacing with 2014 and up models. Works on Street/Electra Glide and Road Glide models"
as shown here:

So except for the flash of the audio unit I assume then that my list is complete as follows:

This is a complete list of all I need, Correct?
Amp = Stinger SPX350X2
Faring Speakers = Ground Zero 6.5" Coax GZCF 6.5SPL (yellow basket) (Pair) Pods requiring modifying" for the speakers to fit
Wiring Kit = Stinger SVTK4681 Wiring Kit
Flash the audio unit

Question about the Flash part:
You say flatten the curve?
Do I need to tell them that? or,
Will saying I'm installing an amp please flash it for that change.

Couple things:
1) That Stinger amp isn't powerful enough to get the most use out of those GZ. The Stinger would do ok with a set of mmats, but I would suggest going with bigger amp. If you like then stinger, then go with the SPX700

2) That wire kit is overkill. Get yourself a Saddle Tramp ST-AK8 amp install kit. You then will need a line out converter Saddle Tramp AX-MLOC-HD1 that are made for Harley as a "plug n play". And then some RCA's

3) Flashing. You will need to find a Techno Research dealer to flash. Most, if not all, Harley dealerships will not flash it. The flash will flatten the EQ curve (better sound), change HU output voltage and makes it sound doesn't change from acc to running. You will want either the RF flash or Soundz/8.2.

I have multiple reasons for having said the Stinger SPX350X2 is the amp of choice.

And to be clear I know just about nothing when it comes to audio.

my reasons:
#1 I see that it is a favored amp on this site it seems (among others)
#2 Cost is definitely a factor as my wife is already unhappy about the amount money spent on this bike. (its inexpensive, but I will pay more if needed)
#3 The hook up of the speaker per amp instructions is very confusing in that I just don’t get the outputs needs.
I don’t know if the following is just a suggestion on how you can do something or the amp REQUIRES this output or it burns up or something!

I will try to explain here, and maybe you can tell me if this is “BS” and you just hook it up left and right (I hope)

The SPX350X2 specs say:
RMS Power (14.4Vdc ≤1% THD):
125 x 2 @ 4 ohm Stereo <-- literally the only Amp I see that says I can hook (2) 4 Ohm speakers!
175 x 2 @ 2 ohm Stereo
350 x 1 @ 4 ohm Bridged
Lowest Recommended Load:
4 ohm Bridged or 2 ohm Stereo

The SPX700X4 specs say: This says to me that I "HAVE to have THREE speakers" at the very least, THAT'S what I don't get!
RMS Power (14.4Vdc ≤1% THD):
125 x 4 @ 4 ohm Stereo
175 x 4 @ 2 ohm Stereo
125 x 2 @ 4 ohm Stereo + 350 x 1 @ 4 ohm Bridged* (Rear Channels only) <-- Two PLUS One for (3) speakers. NO two speaker instructions

And this diagrams only confirm this!

So, IS the SPX700x4 Diagram fact or just suggestion
As in ANY 2-channel amp no matter what it says in the specs can be setup like the spx350x2 diagram ( with said ohm speakers).
This is all I want “Two speakers in Stereo”

I found this in my forum search and it is suggested by you, I wonder do you still agree?

GZ GZCF 6.5 (200-225 watts needed) with Mmats MD4110, DD Audio D4.125, Euphoria FM 100.4, SD 800.4

If so this is what I will do (one of these amps) along with your suggestions above! I will just look for the least expensive that I can find of these!
and be done with the planning stage!

THANKS for all the help!

GZ GZCF 6.5 (200-225 watts needed) with Mmats MD4110, DD Audio D4.125, Euphoria FM 100.4, SD 800.4

Short answer is any of those amps will work.
Mmats 4110 is a favorite of mine (it's the exact amp that Soundz uses)
DD is a great amp as well
FM 100.4 is good, but it's physically big
SD 800.4 is the smallest, but there is some reliability issues.
Stinger 700 is fine. I'm just not a fan and I don't like their speaker input plugs.

All 5 of those amps will run (bridge) a set of GZ speakers just fine (as far as power wise and configuration).

OK, so the Mmats 4110 is now the amp - Im easy :-)
BUT, again to be clear
I will only be running the two GZ speakers
Do I have to run them in Bridge mode "mono"
OR
Can I hook them up to this amp in Stereo (2 ch) "ch1 right side, ch 2 left side"

I can find no install instruction "so far" except the image I shared in last post

Again Thanks for your help!!!

Do you know will the "ferrite" GZCF 6.5SPL 6.5" speaker fit the 2008 batwing with 6.5 adapter?

That Stinger kit is what I have on my 2010 SG. It's a very nice, plug and play, complete kit. I ended up with a few "extra" parts, but they were only speaker wires (long one for rear speakers I assume) and a couple of those plugs which I didn't need because I went with an aftermarket Alpine HU. I removed the tank and ran the main wire harness along the backbone, very clean install and IMO worth the money. It even has that blue wire that is "T'd" off for the remote turn on. it connects to the lighter.

My set up consist of the Stinger 700, Hertz 6.5", and an Alpine HU. I currently do not have it bridged which means I'm only running 125 watts to each speaker. The Hertz can handle up to 200 watts from what I see so it would be a thin line to walk to get 200 watts if I bridge the amp. I would only go 180 using the sticky chart at the top of this section. I do plan on doing this, it just isn't at the top of the list of things to do so I'm basically just waiting for a reason to remove the fairing.

Like another member added, the speaker connections at the amp are less than desirable. It uses a plug with wires attached instead of just attaching the uncovered speaker wire to the amp and using a screw to hold it down.

As for my setup, it is very clean and loud. Another reason why I haven't jumped to bridge the amp. It does not have much bass, but that was expected with the 6.5". You may get more from those yellow baskets. They have a great reputation around here, but I don't think the Stinger is powerful enough for them according to the "numbers."

Honestly I don't understand why people don't replace the factory HU. The cost of my Alpine HU was a little over $100, but it's only a single din. With the install kit and the needed adapter for the bar control, I believe it was around $200. Some added costs, but since you are already working on it. might as well IMO. Good luck with your set up!
