I ordered a pair of CX65 Cicada Coax Speakers 6.5" (2Ω and 4Ω), ( https://garagebaggerstereo.com/produ...-52-and-4-pair ) but when I went to install them in my 22 EGS the outer ring is too big. I have to wait until Monday to request a return, but I thought I would ask here to see if anyone else had issues with speaker diameters and how they resolved them. Or if anyone was able to make these speakers work. Thanks for any input.
If anyone reads this, please disregard it. I attempted to install them at night using a flashlight. After reattempting during the day I was able to align everything and get them to fit. I left the original post just in case anyone else tries to be a dummy like me so they can see my errors.
And, for those who have a Tour Pack, you can install the front speakers in the rear pods, you just have to get a spacer that is available through multiple sources. Then your sound will be better balanced front and back. (bigger magnets, better sound).
I installed the same speakers in my SG ST and of course ran into the same issue, the speaker grill screws interfere with the large plastic ring since there are no cutouts around the speaker ring. I squeezed everything together but didn't feel good about how off all the mounting holes were, and I was too paranoid to modify that ring. I just ended up removing the screws and let the clamping force of the speaker pods hold everything together. 1500 miles later, everything is still holding together.

So you don't have any screws holding the speaker to the pod?
And your speakers are different model than the OP.
I don't use the stock speaker screws on aftermarket speakers because they are too big.
Sorry to derail your thread OP.
It's not the speaker screws that are too big, its the screws holding the grill to the fairing that are causing interference. They hit that huge black plastic ring, so I removed the screws and held them in place with hot glue and put everything back together.

A guy gave me a set of fairing grills to replace that look a lot like these (https://www.cyclegear.com/parts/hogt...sku_id=1035013 ). I was able to replace the stock ones (29 and 30) in the above picture and everything fits as it should.
