Default HDHU 14+ Screen Issues.

Is this a sign of things to come? I have noticed more latley that there are spots in my screen. Its a daily driver that rarely sees rain. I avoid it if possible. Ivee tried a hard reset, changing the background image, wiping off the screen, disconnecting from car play. Its out of warranty so Im screwed there. Ill probably just use it till it goes kaput completley then look for a diferent option. Have any of yall had this issue? If so what was the fix?

Thanks

I bought the 14si rode all last year and through a few monsoon rains and so far no screen issues, just had to replace a maestro unit. I do have a cover over everything inside the fairing. Maybe contact dealer and SS and see if they will help in any way.

Im interested more on what "cover" you have inside the fairing and if it creates locked in heat issues?

water ingress and yes it'll get worse

Although out of warranty it's always worth contacting your supplier/PowerAcoustik direct as they had known issues in the early days with poorly bonded screens on the 14+

I also think they have a screen replacement service if not....personally I'd upgrade to the Si (best thing I did) if monies can afford it

{pic from 2023 when mine failed and they replaced - but I switched to Si while I was waiting}

if you use search and look up my posts, this has been covered in detail over the years of SoundStream's and Sony i've had in my 2017 FLHXS
I run a bat cape from 309 Custom Audio, over zip bagged interface boxes.... This is England, it gets wet!

I still run the cape today over a IIsi/RR Module/ RF M5-800X4 amp (against the sellers advice but going on a few posters on this forums real world experience instead)
but the amount of water that gets in the wing is going to cause issue if I didn't protect everything like I've always done because of the inclement weather

and I've not had a problem in the 2 years its been under the cape

YMMV

FYI

when we purchase SoundStream equipment over here from the Zodiac Catalogue out of Holland, it comes with the following Maestro waterproof cover.
however for the love of all things fiddly I can't get the wiring and the module into one, so Zip baggies it is....

Check and make sure the protective shipping film has been removed. On those older models it was like a piece of thin cellophane on the screen.
Mine HU had the same issue until I pulled the baked on cellophane off now it looks like new again.

That is the cover I use (as posted above) I also use a removable silicon sealant around the fairing and windshield and any gaps.. I have a 14 ultra so every is not as tight as new. I have no idea if it keeps heat in.

Update:

I got the bike out yesterday after a few days in the garage and the screen if fine now. I guess the warming temps cleared it up? In any case, thank you for all the response. I will still be on the lookout to replace the unit at some point either with a GTS or some other brand.
