OK, I'm lazy. I have read through a ton of threads on mc audio and it all runs together. I have a 09 street glide and 500.00 or so that I want to spend getting the best sound possible. I would prefer to stay with the stock HK unit.
mpak 6 from arc audio. This is arcs new harley audio setup with the new moto speakers do a search, i just bought this from a gentleman on ebay bassman is his username 535.00. The kit came with amp, 6.5 inch waterproof speakers, wiring kit and speaker adapter rings, everything you need for a total install. The sound and bass is better then anything out there. i spent along time looking into this only to find almost every harley audio supplier just rebadges the arc amps and hertz speakers and charges way more then this!
I was shocked and pleasantly surprised by HD BOOM speakers. I haven't added the aamp yet...and may not because I don't think it is needed, to be honest. $300 for set of 4. That gives you $200 to spend on other upgrades.
If you want to thump like a teenager then look elsewhere but if you want a good quality clear sound that you can hear well at 80mph and over loud pipes you will be happy with my suggestion.
If you want to thump, buy the Rockford Fosgate PBR300X2 and a pair of Polk MM651. You'll have about $350.00 invested including speaker adaptors and amp wiring kit. Very easy install. The hardest thing is running the power wire under the tank but it only takes 15-20 minutes to do that.
You can find the amps for about $165.00, the Speakers for about $105.00, the adaptors $40-50, and the amp kit $25.00.
Just put the Boom Audio amp and speakers on my Street Glide last week. I know there are a lot of opinions on this but I think it sounds great. Very happy with this set up.
