Been awhile and now I am finally on the last legs of my winter mods, that being the stereo install. One thing I noticed right off the bat is that the BT kit has a clear film that they say to put on top of the head unit. never noticed it on any pics I have seen...so is this something I don't need to do or is it not needed?
I am sure I will have a ton of questions when I start the wiring, so please stay tuned!
Helps in the event that any moisture gets in the fairing. I put it on mine wen I installed.... You're right,..........people rarely mention this !! USE IT !!
BT kit says to remove radio cage on the radio. Does the Sony unit even have a cage? I removed 2 very small screws and what I think is the cage doesn't budge. Don't want to force it so better ask you folks.
Sorry to ask a million questions, just not sure of myself and rather ask then ruin something.
yes the sony has a cage to be used in cars. Slide it off using the keys provided with the radio and toss it or put it back in the box. you won't need it.
sorry I just re-read your post. put those screws back in wherever you took them out of. there are 2 keys in a baggie by themselves. slide them into the slots on the front side of the radio all the way to the outside and slide that metal cage backwards
Trying to figure out a problem here. I bought both the BT Sony kit and the Sony adapter. Since I bought the kit from Amazon instead of BT the orange piece ends in wires instead of a connector. So do I need to cut this off and splice the wires together to the adapter? Here's a pic hopefully this helps explain what I am trying to say
well that sucks.. do the wire colors match up? if so I would think you'd be good to go with removing the connector and splicing like colors together. If not, I would contact Biketronics and get some guidance. Never bought one of their kits off of Amazon. Did it ship from Biketronics or someone else?

Got it from OHS Powersports seller on Amazon. BT said it would refund me the adaptor, but I think the color wires match...so wouldn't it be just as easy to splice into the adaptor?
man I think I'd call Bill over there and ask him the question of whether the software/firmware in the unit is different than that of the units they sell. If it's the same then I wouldn't worry about it and splice the wires together AS LONG AS the colors match.
