I have been following this thread for a while concerning the adapter rings and the Polk speakers. I have the Polk DXI 6.5" speakers. I concluded that there were too many people having issues for it to be merely a fluke. I also figured it was no big deal drilling a few new holes. I ordered a set and when they arrived, sure enough the holes didnt line up. I get my drill, #10 screws, and appropriate bit. The first thing I noticed is that the intended holes have a substantial 3/4" boss for the screws to bite into. When you drill new holes you've only got about 1/16" of plastic for the screw threads to grab. I put everything together and lightly tightened the screws to avoid stripping out the plastic. Put everything together and called it a night. The next day I was going to put the fairing back on and noticed a screw holding the speaker was loose. Then I found a second had come loose. I took it apart and the plastic just crumbled around the holes. There were cracks radiating from the holes completely across the adapter. This only happened to one side for some reason. Bad plastic batch perhaps? Today I called DF and spoke with someone there and he told me he never heard of that happening. I wasnt calling to ask for a new adapter since I dont see how these will work reliably with a Polk speaker but rather wanted to point out the issue. He told me he never heard of any issues or mounting problems with the Polks. I told him the forums had quite a bit of discussion over the matter and that Kevin had responded numerous times on the very subject.

I wouldnt have minded if I just needed to drill a few extra holes, it goes with working on the bike. The design of the adapters doesnt allow for simply drilling new holes. There just isn't enough material there. So I gave them a shot and it didn't work out. It wont be the first time I've bought an "accessory" and it ended up on the shelf.

This thread was started by someone who had a problem with the adapters and wanted to give others a heads up. He didnt bash the product, he simply said he had an issue that others should be aware of.
Here is what irritates me to no end. A few pages back in this very thread, Kevin went on a rant about this very issue being discussed. His comment was "IMO if your going to buy an entire system from 4 different vendors please don't be a child about an extra 5 min of labor. If you require the "close your eyes install" buy the entire kit from the same vendor, then have it done for you.
I will apologize if I appear a little cranky on this, but the bitching to everyone on the forums over a $40.00 that doesn't fit something we don't sell, only shows you should have you bike worked on by someone the works on bikes.
"

If the folks at DF are so concerned about the "bitching" on the forums, then there is an easy solution. Don't sell your adapters unless they are part of an entire kit. Take a lesson from J&M Audio, they don't get any bitching on the forums about their amp mounting bracket. Why? because they wont sell it unless you buy their amp. There has been enough discussion on here that there is a legitimate issue. Dragonfly at the very least should state on the packaging, their website, and Ebay that the adaptors wont or may not fit Polk speakers. Then we would have no one to blame but ourselves if they didnt work, of course Kevin may not sell as many of those nifty $40 adaptors. But hey the bitching would stop.

I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed but I managed to get mine installed. It's not rocket science. I'm glad my Polk mm651's went in smoothly

Just installed my Polk MM651 speakers with Dragonfly adapter. Followed UltraNutz' instructions of getting all four screws started and they went in great. I found the key was to start the bottom screw with the fairing bracket first(just till it bites). I then tilted the speaker back at the top and was able to see the next 3 screws get started in the corresponding holes and voila. Took it slow but no problem.
