Default Full on stereo or keep using MP3 player?

Ok so I have an interesting decision to make. Right now I just installed a fairing on my Road King and it has the hole for 4 4" speakers and a radio. I already have a speaker system on my crash bars that comes with a mini 150w amplifier. Should I just go ahead and buy some speakers and wire them into the amp I have or go all out with a full radio kit? I like the setup I have but I have speaker holes to fill and I do want a little louder system. Are there other more powerful amps that will still fit in a small windscreen bag?

I want a decent sounding system but honestly I'm probably not going to use a radio for anything. I don't have many CD's and most of my music I would listen to on my bike is already on my cell phone.

If you're going to use 4" speakers,...........you are really bottle-necking your abilities. Can the holes be made into 5 1/4" holes ??? If so,.....you could have a WAY Rockin' set-up !!! Plenty of amps will fit in that fairing !!

open those holes up to 5.25. I used a dremmel with a cut off wheel. I have 4 polk dxi speakers with a alpine ktp 445 amp I had laying around. sounds pretty good and I can hear it at 80 mph no problem. make sure you run a 10 gauge wire minimum for the amp. I had to do this even with my baby amp.

well I guess that all depends on what he's trying to accomplish.

The Sony DSX-S310BTX is a tune tray where you put your iPod inside of it and it's out of sight. If you go the route of handlebar controls then everything about the Sony will be accessible through the handlebar controls.

Not to mention you wind up with bluetooth in addition where you can stream Pandora, your GPS turn by turn directions, etc...

But per what Monzie said, if you're just looking to put a radio in to plug a "hole" don't bother with it.

This setup requires some thought as to what exactly you want to accomplish. The sky is pretty much the limit now that you have a fairing.. Head unit, amp(s), larger speakers, handlebar controls, etc.

If you buy a head unit that controls an ipod, the interface will be much easier to operate going down the road than what you are doing now. Not to mention you will have a better DAC in the head unit than what is in the ipod.

Win, win if you ask me.
