You guys love your Polk Audio MM's. You can have them. I had a set and in less than 6 months blew one. The amp was turned up to about half and still fried one. They wont replace because it was not an authorized dealer.
Now to my question. Has anyone ran a set of Focal VB 165 or Hertz Hsk 165. I know these are both upper end speakers but not sure what rain or water might do to them. Plus is wrapping the speakers a big bonus. Will it help with the bass?
The Focal VB 165 aren't even close to upper end, but if you want the FOCAL name, they make GREAT speakers, but my ears only like the K2 series and above.
Those Hertz Hsk 165 seem like a good speaker, but haven't heard them in person. The Hertz will have way better bass than the Focal !
I have the Focal VB 165 components powered by an Arc KS125.2 amp. They are very efficient and play very clean and clear. I don't know how much of a difference it makes, but the VB line are made in France and not China. Sure you can spend more $, but if you're actually in a riding environment vs. a parking lot, why? At 70 mph with road/wind/traffic noise, etc, you're not exactly in a stereo sound room...
Focal...Polk...then comes along HERTZ and cleans them all up. They are all good and of decent quality ut hertz is the best going right now. Haven't heard anything other than complaints about the JM speakers...even the briker tronics new speakers are trashing the JMs. Just real world stuff here. Tons used sets on eBay for cheap.
I wouldn't even compare BT speakers to J&M. Totally different class of speaker.
and IMO those BT/HAT speakers are way better than a LOT of the Focal, Hertz, JL, JBL, etc lines. They are certainly better on the bottom end than the Polks are but the Polks provide an incredible soundstage and dynamic headroom.
The biggest issue with Hertz is making sure you're buying authentic product. Hertz speakers have been cloned for a long time and the practice hasn't seemed to cease. Just make sure to buy from an authorized Hertz retailer.
