Default help me with an amp please

I have a 13 RGU I am installing 2 sets of Polk Audio DXI 650's I will be keeping my sock head unit, I manly listen to FM so signal is important I may also install a pair of Hawg Wired tweeter grills

1st I was thinking about the pbr300x4 for ease of install, price and charging system ability, but read that 2 of the pbr300x2's would be better even though doubles the cost in amps.

My concern is how many amps do they pull from the charging system will the stock charging system keep up
or is there a better 4 channel set up that wont break the bank
Thanks

There are plenty of guys running 2 amps in there bikes so you should be fine. Im not sure how many amps they actually pull from the charging system but I havent heard of anyone having issues while running 2 separate amplifiers at the same time.

Around 10 amperes peak, depending on the complexity and duration of the music waveform. Most of the time it will be about half that.

I have the kissing cousin of the Dxi 650's with the db651's. Running one speaker off a single channel of the Fosgate pbr300x2 will overpower them.

If those are the speakers you have your heart set on, and I don't personally care for mine, I would only use one pbr300x2 amp and run 1 pair off of each channel in parallel. That would be plenty of power to them.

well I already have 2 new pair of them that I only have a total of 60.00 in all 4 so I will give them a try if they blow so be it I am out nothing but they are rated at 60w continuous and a peak of 160
and if they do blow I will already have the 2 amps installed and then can look at both 2 and 4 ohm speakers.
Thanks

If you don't turn the amp gains up too high, watch your volume level, and turn your AVS down/off, you may not blow them. But there is a reason they aren't that expensive. I've found my db651's sound too muddy and distort easily.

Good luck. Hope you like them more than I like mine.

PBRs use a technology very similar (although different) than Class D amps so amperage draw from your electrical system is minimal.

I haven't measured a PBR to be honest with you but have measured the PN4.520D at wide open volume, wide open gains, bike running, 1000hz tone running and max amperage draw I saw was about 8-9A.

You will NEVER be running your PBR like this so your amperage draw for 2 of these will be well within the ranges it needs to be.

Your bike has a 55A charging system of which about 50% of that is taken up at any given time by the bike's electrical systems.
