If he doesn't want to lose some sales he better release some specs and maybe a picture or two soon.

I'm probably not the only one that is planning winter mods and I'm starting to buy components. My next purchase will be the V-Twin audio radio mount. After that is the head unit. One I buy I'm not going back.

Why you would tease something for months and not keep people up to date is beyond me....

The new infotainment systems on the 2014 models may have taken some of the wind from Dragonflys sails on this one. I agree, the lack of info has lost sales, at least mine. I went with a Biketronics kit and a Sony head unit, couldn't wait any more.

the way it was explained to me, DF is actually not the delay, but Aquatic AV. The design and intial prototype was shipped to DF and shown at Sturgis. The problem is A AV has MUCH larger customers than DF to manufacture headunits for. So they put DF's measley 100 units per year on the back-burner to accomodate the 500-1000 unit-per-month customers. Makes sense to me but unfortunately doesn't make it easier for you guys..

I am in aftermarket commercial trucks business focusing on slow moving parts, I know exactly what you mean...However that 100 units/year pays a lot more per unit with a lot more margin per unit to the manufacturer than that 500-1000 unit/month order.....well with all being said, it is their business which we can only see from afar and say what we have on mind... IMO the least Dragonfly can do is make an announcement with specs and picture, so people who feel it is worth the wait will wait instead of turning to other alternative because Dragonfly is keeping total silence like what they are doing right now, we have no idea at all about what to expect, so we cannot wait in the dark and must turn our head to other option...

Don't get me wrong, I like Dragonfly products, some of my friends use their product, theyre great and I really think small manufacturer like them should be supported... If you know them that well, it might be worth a try to give a suggestion to them to not leave us in total silence like what they are doing right now... At least we must know what to expect...even a huge car manufacturer give a preview to the public before they release a new model...

Is it projected to be something similar to this unit?

That's kind of what I was hoping to have seen AFTER Sturgis ended. It's great for them to have given UltraNutz a preview and that he shared some of the details, but even HE hasn't gotten to hear it, play with it, etc.

GM was previewing their '14 Silverado/Sierra models around February- and they weren't scheduled to go on sale until June. Pics, specs (even SOME of the data), etc. would probably have kept some of the guys who've gone to BT/automotive decks holding on for more.

At the very least, he COULD give us info such as: (and yes, I realize UltraNutZ stated a few of these things, but official answers would be nice)
  • What iPod connector it uses (Lightning vs. 30pin Dock Connector). This could be a dealbreaker on either side: those who haven't upgraded their iPhones for whatever reason (for me: no 4G in Albany, NY on Sprint, and Verizon's cost is nearly 2X what I pay now) or who only have older iPods (new Nanos and Touches use Lightning too) for music purposes need a 30pin Dock Connector. That limits the value of the new unit if it uses the Lightning connector. Conversely, those guys who DO have new Lighting-based i-Devices may not be able to use it unless it can be used with a Lighting adapter- and will the tray physically hold an iPhone 5/5S (with or without that adapter)?
  • Can I change the display/button colors to red to match my modded gauges?
  • Is this unit Satellite Radio ready? Can I connect my current XM radio adapter to this (I can understand requiring a new cable to connect from the XM module to the deck), or will it only mate up with some proprietary (read: super-expensive extra part, a la the MoCo's "BOOM!" crap) satellite radio module of some sort? Is it compatible with the SiriusXM-ready adapter that only requires the tuner and antenna?
  • Are there rear aux/usb ports?
  • Will it have HD radio? Bluetooth? Pandora support? SD/MicroSD card support? Front USB?
  • How does it interface with the bike? Is it like UltraNutZ stated and it is truly plug and play with no external interface module necessary?

How about showing a pic or two from his Sturgis event and explain the capability and availability as best he can. At least let us know it's in progress and IS real, not just a tease. You can't hype a super new item that you might expect a lot of demand for (given that he posted the teaser in here in the first place) and then 'disappear' leaving everyone in a complete vacuum!

Pricing is also something that is likely going to affect sales. As UltraNutZ pointed out, while $500-$600 or so isn't bad in relative terms, that's only relative to choosing between this deck and the other existing options (HW or BT). Until this unit is ready for prime time, people have to choose whether they're willing to wait (with no ETA given) or go with what is known to work. Also, if you've ALREADY ditched your HK unit and have the money in a Biketronics/Hawg Wired controller/install kit plus the deck you choose means you're probably not swaying that buyer. Again, at this point, this unit is most likely appealing only to those who have YET to upgrade and are willing to live with what they have until later in the year. Plus, all this hype came BEFORE HD unveiled their the new fairing design, which will limit his customer base to '13 and earlier models. Granted, this unit HAS to be better than the HK unit in every way possible, but still...I've already got roughly $400 into my current setup.

This unit would have to be HEAD AND SHOULDERS better than my current setup, and even then I can't see spending that kind of money on fixing what's working well. I will be saving that cash for extended CVO-style bags and Hogtunes lids (and getting them painted) so I can add another pair of speakers to my already decent system, or perhaps adding the new Dakota Digital MVX-8A gauge kit!

So IS this thing the ultimate Harley Head Unit? Will it make me want to rip out my Biketronics/Sony hardware so I can be one of the first to try it? Dragonfly??

Damn! go figure! - and I bought a Dragonfly fairing a few months ago. I would have waited on buying it if I knew they were coming out with a fancy-shmancy new-fangled head unit!

Let's see that **** already!!!

This thread may shed some light on why Dragonfly has never responded. Post 38 states that their shop has been cleaned out.
